There is SOMEWHAT of a seat of the pants difference in low-end torque with the 15%. But THERE IS a REAL seat of the pants difference in low-end torque with the 19%.

As for me, I wasn't all that impressed in the low end,(1K-3K) but traveling on the highway going highway speeds,(>3K~5K) I was impressed by the lack of downshifting needed at 6th gear. It looks like I will go w/ the GIAC to satisfy my "fix", but before that I will need a better intake.

Does anbody know what octane is needed for GIAC? I'm limited to 91 octane here.

Vehicle speed is dependent upon gear, and RPM of the engine. Changing pulley and crank sizes, intakes and exhaust does not change this relationship. What will change this relationship is the altering of the tranny gears, or a change in tire size (diameter).

Cooper_Ski, if I'm not mistaken, GIAC did their extensive testing here in CA, on 91. So, they should have something for ya! Don't hold me to it, but I'm quite certain of that...

I remember reading that too, I believe Alta themselves had released this info. I would like the chip, but my gas here is limited to 90 octane; possibly when I get back to the states.
If you check the MTH thread you might be able to get Franz to send you a map for your octance rating.

They have a program for 91 octane. I'd skip the intake. The difference between a good intake and a "bad" intake is minimal on these cars. Save the dough.

 I just had an Alta 15% pulley installed yesterday morning at Mini of Towson. They are now offering Mini Mania pulleys at the dealership & will install these or the customers own pulley. The fact that the Mini dealership is offering these pulleys & installing them for their customer with no affect on the warrenty should be proof enough that there is no problem with the pulley upgrade.

LOL! WEll, I tried to retighten my pulley because of squealing from the belt and to no help, it still squeals.
I called my dealership today to book an appointment and I explained my problem and that there was 15% pulley in now, her words were "Why did you do this?" my reply "Why not!"LOL, anyways this should be fun Tuesday morning listening to them rant at me.

I don't think dealerships here in the UK are "Mod Friendly"

It would be nice if Mini would set a policy concerning mods that applies to the entire company so that there would be no question about what is acceptable & what is not.
I don't see how a dealership could contest a warrenty claim on a part that they sell & install!
Good luck on Tuesday!

Because the dealer installs the pulley does not mean the warranty on the car cannot be voided. Mini pays for warranty on the car, not the dealer. There are many dealers who sell aftermarket parts that will void the warranty on the car. Some dealers are easier to work with when it comes to warranty issues.

Could this be one of the concerns the mechanic was trying to talk about?
