Drivetrain Modified Borla Race
Modified Borla Race

My Borla has been great sounding but lacking in quality. First the front resonator fell apart internally after 30k. I tried making contact with Borla but was not successful...not that it would've made any difference as I purchased this online and don't have a receipt. I had a 16" bullet glass pack put in it's place and the rear tips modified with custom designed SS dual DTM 3" tips (the sectioned "fab" look was designed purposely) which amplified the great sound even more
Good thing I don't live by the Canyons or the cops could just use their ears to locate me
Next stop will be to have a complete custom 2.5" or 3" SS exhaust fabricated from front to back. Haven't decided on dual SuperTrapp out the sides near the tires (ala SPI's dual N1s) or dual DTM center exit yet:smile:

Yes...I'm concerned about that. I may just widen the pipes instead.

I'm interested in the whole Borla/warranty issue - they claim to have a "Million Mile Warranty" - hard to imagine that there is a MINI any where with a Million miles, every exhaust they've ever made by definition should still be under warranty
I purchased a Borla Race about 10 months ago. After months of fighting with the clamps trying to stop a noisy leak I pulled the exhaust and started welding all the connections. (voiding the warranty or so I was told??).
After I was done I plugged both ends and pressurized the system to 30lbs. I noticed an immediate loss of pressure. I sprayed all my welds with soapy water and couldn't find a leak. After 3 attempts enough soap had run onto the welds for the rear muffler that the problem became apparent. A crappy factory weld on the muffler had a hole the size of a pencil in it. I found another smaller hole on the other muffler. Since I was told the warranty was already voided I just welded them myself.
Now that all the leaks are gone the exhaust sounds great!

The other thing I didn't mention was the welds on the hangers broke tearing the muffler body. Thanks to Chad at DT for welding it back together

Wow
I understand that every person is welcome to their own opinion, but perhaps if it is a negative one...KEEP IT TO YOUR SELF!!! Regardless of what you think...MSFitoy obviously likes it so just encourage him! Anywho, I do feel some sound bites should be on their way as well as some night shots of your lights too! MSFitoy, Your MINI is awsome!

Not like other people here who just pretend it isnt there.

Don't worry...I've been in the design business for over 20 years and have 1/4" thick skin
Back in the 80's, people thought my Honda was stupid too...maybe some people still do

I'm afraid I don't have the know how/hardward to do sound tracks (still have dial up
)...must be gettn old LOL...sorry:smile:
nice looking exhaust.
can;t say it look stupid or pretty. it depends on personal backgrounds.
i like the direction of the tip. the size of the tip in the picture is really aggressive. i like that.
i think the size of the tip and pipe will make the sound pretty loud. it will make a killing sound off the MINI.
i just watch "The Punisher" last night again. here is part of the movie when he crank up the car after he rebuilt it.
"that is really loud!, is it suppose to be that way?"
"that is cool!"
it always a fun to see people who dont understand some of the car stuff we like!
no hard feeling guys up there!
MSFITOY good looking MINI

I have seen MSFITOY in person at the Dragon in May and it is by far my favorite Mini. Sid's attention to detail is tremendous. Sid is also very humble about his designs. He has been involved in some high profile serious work.
BTW, I like the exhaust.
