Drivetrain MISSING : GIAC. Reward if found...
MISSING : GIAC. Reward if found...
My MINI, 'Winston', had to undergo "emergency surgery" (faulty clutch) this past weekend and I think my GIAC'ed ECU was reset to stock...
If that is the case, then there is a HUGE difference between a 19%, JCW injectors, etc WITH AND WITHOUT GIAC. The power, smoothness, and all around fun factor just doesnt seem to be there without the GIAC in effect...
Does anyone know if anything the dealership can do would completely remove GIAC? My understanding was that the GIAC was 're-flash' proof - I design that Garret put into place to save GIAC customers the hassle in case a dealer does flash the ecu.
Thanks for the input as always!
(ps - if it IS still GIAC'd, then something else must be wrong because Winston just doesnt feel the same, post-repair)

I did notice that someone had posted that the GIAC was flashproof, and should have commented. Ain't true. Any time the dealer re-writes to the ECU, you lose the existing maps that are on the car. The good news is that you have a licence from GIAC, and are eligible for free re-flashes (free here at helix: I don't know what the re-flash policy is at other GIAC autorized dealers).
