Drivetrain Alta silicone hose question
Alta silicone hose question
I put the Alta on last night but with the stock hose. Alta claims that it makes about 1 1/2 - 2 hp difference. On my car so far I am not impressed with the down low power and accellleration. Ia mvery impressed with what happes after about 4750 rpm. Does the hose help throttle response etc?
The hose is the reason I got the Alta.
It's just nice looking that's all for me.
I agree that Alta do great around 4K and up.
I sometime use BMP filter in place of Alta foam and I do feel a little more juice at low rpm with BMP(I don't know it's all just a feel here), but up around 4K Alta does better(this one I can really tell).

Randy Webb installed my Alta intake at one of his pulley parties. Randy's advice was that the hose didn't offer any real benefit unless you have a bored throttle body, or if you are thinking of getting one. Otherwise the stock TB is the constricted point and the larger slicker hose can't do anything about that. If you have, or are getting, a big TB, there is an advantage to getting the hose with the intake - It's cheaper to get as part of the intake package, as opposed to buying the hose separately. I gave in to temptation and got the hose because it looked cool.
hello, I'm not sure how much if anything you'll get down low by puting on the hose, but I'd still get it even if you do not have a TB. I took my TB off, smoothed out the ridges on the inside and radiused the lip for smoother transition from the tube to the TB. Thought it was worth mentioning, good luck.
