Drivetrain Exhaust problem help
Exhaust problem help
I could use any help on this one.
I was at the Dragon this weekend (what a blast!) when last night I noticed the exhaust sounding really rough. It sounded louder than normal (I know some of you would welcome this as would I but not in this case) with a constant fluttering.
Mine is an '05 with factory exhaust. What could be causing this. Someone was wondering if I could be miss-firing and have a bad plug. I was running the car really hard that day on the dragon (as I should be
).
This morning when I cranked the car up it sounded just fine. When we got to a stop for lunch it was doing it again.
So basically what I have is a lower tone in the exhaust with a constant fluttering sound.
The car idles fine and I don't seem to have any performance problems.
I do have a SES with code 1498 but that has been there since last weekend when I installed the AGS and I was not going to deal with that until I got back from the dragon since I didn't want to risk screwing something up when I took apart the car again.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Chris

Any news on the 1498 code?
I just had my codes read and I am throwing a 1498 code
I have also installed the AGS on my car, but I have no idea what the 1498 code is as it is not in the back of the 2004 service manual
My car is a 2006 and I also have the SES light on and I have the EML light on and my car is hunting for idle and is hunting under load
Any ideas?
Thanks
Anthony

The system expands considerably when hot, then contracts back when cold... which would explain why it sounded fine in the morning.
