Yes, you can add quaife to any MINI with manual transmission from 02' to 05'. It costs alot more than the MINI factory installed LSD.

You do not need to add anything else although some owners choose to add a lightweight flywheel and a racing clutch at the same time since the labor is the same. However the cost of the flywheel and clutch are extra.

Why do you think you need a Quaife? Are you planning to do autocross and track driving?

For track the Quaife is useful, in autocross it can help if you have a course that allows for a bit more speed through corners and straights. Also you'll need to get some decent tires that are sticky so you can make use of the added traction.

Flywheel upgrades should be light but not too light. They tend to be noisy and clatter when at idle. Shifting speed is enhanced. Racing clutches are more durable than the stock clutch if changing the flywheel.

I have had the Quaife in for about a year now and have had no problems. The biggest change I have noticed is the added pull you get accellerating out of a corner. The front end really seems to be planted as it pulls you thru. Definatly a help in auto X as well as tighter tracks .

I decided to get the Spec flywheel and stage 3 clutch since there was no added labor $ to the base $800 it costs to install the Quaife. I didn't want to pay all that labor again.

The pros: Much quicker launches with the flywheel as well as more power low down in the rpm band.

The cons: When the motor is fully warmed and the car is in neutral with the clutch out (like sitting at a red light) there is a definate rattle. I had one guy ask me if my Mini was a diesel.

If I had to do it all over again I'd probably have gone with the stage 2 clutch. The stage 3 is very "grabby". Starting on hills I have to use the e-brake, otherwise you screech the tires or bog.

Talk to brian at Eurostyle East (in the sponsor section). HE's knowlegeable and the prices are reasonable.
