Hey peter, are we still on for next saturday? If so, do you have any thermostats on hand??

uhhh....yeah Bevis! huhuhhuh.

Thread title: M7 Scoop........Deltas

Alcohol injection? This has ZERO to do with the subject unless were speaking in the context of addative effect. ...But it hasn't been presented that way.

So when you go throwing datalogs of the M7 "Mule" & contrast them with the logs of the JCW - it begs the question: What connection are these guys trying to make?

...So they are different - I guess that's a "delta" ...but what does THIS have to do with the M7 scoop's performance?

I like the idea of the scoop and the injection. Was researching injection & the benefits a LONG while ago. Good on you for looking to bring a MINI specific kit to market.

I just want discussion of the two items kept separate for the purpose of logical, meaningful discourse. I appreciate you may not want to start a new thread. ...But to throw it in here clouds the subject.

Peter, I'm not telling you to do anything. ...I'm saying that it looks like you're changing subjects mid-stream. THIS takes away from your discussion about the scoop (which looks like a really nice product).

I like reading about your developments And I appreciate you/freinds & or associates taking the time to share. So don't feel that I'm saying discussion is bad. ...Its the discussion in the context of this thread.

You and I both know how the thread will progress if the subject is not kept straight. I figured you'd want to keep the 'dogies' at bay...

Peter, only SOME have a problem with it but the majority of us who are into this MINI thing for fun actually ENJOY and look forward to the product previews. It helps us budget the amount of money we need to hide from our respective spouses!

Look, all I was doing was explaining to you the SIMPLE thought process that probably led to the introduction of the water injection system into this thread. Of course, I dont expect someone who cant spell BEAVIS to be able to understand that.

I do believe this is Peter's thread and I think he can do what he wants with it. Im just sick of people like you getting on the vendor's backs for trivial crap.... it keeps them from posting here as often and not want to keep the general public informed on any upcoming projects. You were saying you wanted to "keep the dodgies away" and in doing so youve completely thrown this whole thread off onto a tangent. If your goal was to keep the thread on topic, you failed miserably.... while youre at it, why dont you ***** out every other person who posted something slightly off topic in this thread.

But hey, in any event... Im looking forward to gettin that hood scoop Peter Ill let you know what happens to my average temps of the intercooler outlet.

peter.. not to argue with the design, but i love to have one, but the look of it just turns me off completely... is there any reason why there's a buldge on top and it meets back to the contours of the hood very aruptly?

im askin if it's just a functional reason that it looks that way... i want to take the plunge to make my GRS intercooler work better, but it looks like a dam nose! if its at all possible to make the back a bit slicker so it meets the contour of the hood better?

I love the idea behind this - but I really don't like the look of ANYTHING sticking out of the hood like that. I think the WRX is butt-ugly too.

I have had the Extreme M7 scoop on my car for a few weeks now. I must say I am very pleased. I cant see how it could have been designed any different and not affect the areodynamics more than necessary. This is a case where the pics do not do this scoop justice. I think that if the buldge were stremlined it would not fit the contours of the car. Peter has informed me that he is going to design cowl scoops to compliment the scoop. I motor 136 miles daily and have not noticed any wind noise that comes from the addition of the scoop which is a huge plus. I am sure that those of you that buy the scoop will be pleased .P.S. The EB Mini used for the pics is mine . Thanks, George

A great product

On a positive note. I have rec'd my scoop in liquid yellow. It looks very good on the car. From the front it is hardly noticable from stock but at other angle it is distinctive and attractive.

Of course the butt dyno can't tell the difference in performance but the scoop and the 180º thermostat make good sense.

It is not a cryticism but an observation that there is infact increased wind noise and buffet over the roof. This is only noticeable at speeds over 120kph or thereaouts. It seems that a change in airflow seems to have caused the wind deflectors for the sunroof to rattle occassionally when the roof is closed. This is minor, not unexpected and was easy to fix by adjusting spring tension.

Overall it is a good job M7!

OK - I hate to say anythign and open myself up to whatever.

I have been running the M7DFIC scoop for one month withour the DFIC - This is because I had a hood I needed to paint and Peter got me my scoop early - the DFIC should be here soon. Anyway - I am a serius tracker up at Road Atlanta. I ran up there a few weeks ago with just the scoop on the facotory IC. I have no numbers or real measuments _sorry Andy-. I did build a abox that put the air grbbed by the scoop through the factory scoop. I will post pictures tomoorw if anyone ask. I can tell you that I am aware enough of my motor on Road Atlanta (three time regional Champ) that I can tell when my mini is pulling timing.. With the M7 DFIC scoop and my air dam around the factory IC I was getting some timing pulls at 6200 rpm with street gas (93 BP). This is slightly better that with a factory scoop where I felt pulls at 4800 up at times. Once I changed to higher octane fuel (added 3 gallons of 100LL) this issue went away completly and I had strong cleen pulls to redline +. This was also the case with the factory scoop last track day. Road Atlanta is a high speed track and we are talkigng about 110-122 mph air flowes here. I can say that I belive the M7 DFIC scoop does grab more air that the stock scoop - I can't wait the the IC to arrrive. Sorry I do not have numbers - I can tell you that I was fastest in class (Panox gruop B) and this include a lot og C5 and C6 vetts and boxters and S-2000 - etc- Elise.. There was one modded c6 that could pull me by 26 car lengthes on the main straignht and I was back on his *** in turn three - he was eventualy black flagged for not letting the faster car (me ) by,.
Anyway - I will have the IC and AGS3 for next time -m and I may go to Birmignham where handeling is key later this year.

Indi Blue BCS 2003 (no sun roof) 18%, Pilo intake (so far), plugs, Giac, Big injectors, 22mm rear bar, Koni FSD, Poly bushings everywhere - IE lower arms, track alignments, Very light and short Rota wheels with 16x40x225 - very short tires, and Big Wilwood front brakes.

Wes, please get some video of such action.... I would love to see it!

A scoop can indeed make for a performance difference. I guess it was about a year ago, but with Dr O's assistance, we found that the Extreme Scoop made a bigger impact than the GRS IC:

Makes perfect sense.
I did do the numbers. Not exactly the same scoop but close enough.

Here's the thread.

Wes, if you don't mind sharing, what's the diameter of your tires, and the weght of your MCS? I have 16-205/45's, and they are 23.3"... Thanks.
