It definitely looks promising, hence my questions about how it affects actual, measured, intercooler efficiency. If you check my post earlier in this thread, I explain how to get that value, using equipment costing less than an IR thermometer or a Davis Carchip generic OBD-II logger.

Andy, I don't know if this is a realistic suggestion, but would it be possible for you and Peter to work out some sort of deal for a scoop, and you could apply your test methods to it and report your findings?

Why dont you buy an S bonnet? Make your Cooper look like an S.

Alot of people will be doing that 25 years from now.

why the form really... im wondering just because it seems like the top bulge that bulges up looks a bit.. tacky... to me the venturi scoop from mania seems more no-nonsense, the bulge on the m7's seems too out of place and just plain sticks out for no reason!

i cant argue with the 50% efficiency though... id love to hear someone elses' result before plunging though...

MSFITOY,

I'm sure Rick would chime in here, but I am on early so I will set the record straight. Rick was nice enough to take and post those pictures of my car taken at a local car show we have every week here in SoCal.

I'm very happy with the M7 products on my car, the performance change is dramatic.
I would be happy to discuss any of the details you might be interested in if you wish.

Thanks for appreciating my ride.

BTW...are you running the Cosworth head already Peter's probably a little miffed that I installed Webb's head (I thought the Cosworth was a while away). Very nice Mini with all the cool parts I don't have

I think that bulge and the way it's formed will cut down maybe eliminate wind noise at high speed. The air that doesn't go to the intercooler would flow right over the bulge.
The mania one I've heard makes noise at speed and I'd think that comes from the way it's shaped.

More Testing....

After the previous testing we got some more incredibly promising numbers
to chew on.

These are a comparison between our test mule and a JCW 200hp kit.
The JCW car has basically no additional upgrades, that includes the
stock intercooler and hood scoop.

Our test mule has a lot of upgrades, and if we can believe JCW and BMW
we should be up 25 additional HP at the crank with the mule.

This test also included a new alcohol injection system that will be available
in a couple of weeks, this system is MINI specific so easy to install
that anyone can accomplish the task. The alcohol will not only cool down
the intake charge but it will also raise the octane level by 10 points.
Think about it.....you will have 100-104 octane fuel anytime any place
at rock bottom prices

This will show that the Injection system + M7 Scoop will out perform
any intercooler system on the market no matter the price for less then
$ 600 and you will always have racegas a pedal away

M7 Intake Data

M7 Throttle input Data

M7 Speed Data

M7 Ignition advance

These are the JCW maps......

JCW Intake temp data

JCW throttle input data

JCW Speed data

JCW ignition advance

And for more info, feel free to call us, pick our brain, get some answers
and enjoy a chat with us.....

Why would you take a somewhat constructive thread and insert data about an unrelated product?

[edit] deleted the rest... there's no point argueing about it... it's not going to stop the advertising.

No JeffS, there is point to it... you are spot on!

WTF M7 crew? ...Why did you just muddy the watter with alcohol injection?

Anything which doesn't directly relate to the function/performance of the hood scoop may look/be characterized as an attempt to offuscate, confuse or distract. ...Not good thinking guys

Start a new thread - please.

For myself, I was really hoping to see some success here... and it looked as though there'd finally be raw data to back it up too. ...Thought you were gonna give Andy something to put in his pipe. (you know he's been waiting a while now for that too )

c'mon now...

Sorry for the confused, but starting a new thread for the alcohol injection
system is not something we will do untill we have the finished product in our hands, ready for shipping.

How can you not see the connection there guys??? Let me break down the thought process for you.

M7 Hood scoop = more air = cooler temps....

Cooler temps = WATER INJECTION

Hey peter, are we still on for next saturday? If so, do you have any thermostats on hand??
