Just an intake?

I bought an Alta Intake. I don't have any other performance mods yet. Will I notice a differnce? I plan to do the pulley some time this summer.

Possibly. BUT! I guarantee you will FEEL a difference because of the sound.

ANd what is more important.. perception.. or reality?

I would install the intake WITH the pulley. Becuase when doing a pulley, you have to take the stock intake out anyway.

Do the intake before the pulley. This way you can enjoy the intake for the sound and the slight preformance increase. If you do them at the same time, the pulley will greatly overshadow the intake and you know what gains to attribute to which mod.

Another cool mod is to take that boot cover out from under the rear hatch. Now you can really hear the exhaust, and I swear, it makes the car faster!

Sounds of performance.

Spider,
You got a great idea there.
Think I'll try that out on my pal.
Hehehe...

Don't wait, install now!

You should install the Alta intake ASAP. The sound is glorious! It is very debateable whether or not you will physically feel a difference, but oh, the sound will trick your mind into thinking you've unleashed a monster. You will become addicted to that sound, making your engine rev to the limit just to hear her sing to you. And consequently, your gas mileage will suffer.

So don't wait until you have enough money to do the pulley install. Don't deprive yourself of the enhanced turbine whine that we "S" drivers all know and love so much!

and take-out the rear seats, and replace the battery box with an aluminum plate, and the sound level ratchets up just a bit. to much for some i would think... when i gave my pop a ride a couple weeks back, he said that the noise reminded him of being in a helicopter!

Why not do a cheap one-ball conversion in the interim? It's worth a few more HP and grunt.

You must install that alta intake pronto for the cool sound and the good looks when you open the hood. I found my car ran smoother and fuel efficiency improoved by 3 to 4 mpg on avg with the alta intake. Happy motoring!
