Dinan Dealership

Now that Dinan has released their boost upgrade and I can get 205hp WARRANTIED horsepower for $2500 instead of the JCW $6000, I am interested in ordering and getting it installed. I have a problem though...

I live in Dallas and am in search of a dealership that sells Dinan MINI parts. I have found a BMW dealership, but the don't handle MINIs.

Anybody know of a nearby dealer that will order and install Dinan parts for a MINI?

It isn't a dealership, but the Dinan website says this place is an authorized installer, located in Dallas:

Dinan would honor the warranty if they did the work.

$2500 may be the price for the parts, but my dealer sent me e-mail yesterday and they want $3795 installed.

Thanks! I will give them a call. While the install price is a little more than I had expected, it is still cheaper than a JCW kit and for the same performance.

Yeah, it was more than I expected. I am thinking of just doing the intake, pulley and software. The dealer's service rep thought it would deliver ~190hp for $2563.

if you forget your warrenty - do all three items for under $500 bucks - HAI / MTH / 17% pulley + elbow grease. Can't say how much it will dyno, but you will get all three

haven't seen a dyno test of the Dinan - maybe you should considering waiting on seeing one before buying.

read the horsepower myths debunked thread

Seriously, check out the thread called "HP Myths Debunked" to see what the low-down on 210 warranteed flywheel horsepower really is. You will be quite surprised...even shocked. If you were to just do intake, reduction pulley (15%-19%), injectors, and GIAC you would probably be pretty close to the Dinan figures, but for 1/2 the price of the Dinan...and less labor. Also, take a look at their "free flow" exhaust...it's not a cat-back. There are much better cat-backs to choose from i.e. Milltek, Borla, Invidia, etc. They cost the same, give you more power, and the likeliness that they will cause issues with your car are slim to none.

I don't mean to badmouth Dinan's offer. I should admit that I have never driven in a Dinan spec'd car. I mean, the upgrade fits a certain customer. However, in speaking to the experts here, it is pretty much the concensus that bolt-ons from core aftermarket tuners are the way to go. Give the guys at Helix or Randy Webb a call. They'll do you right.

I guess it comes down to how much you value your warranty. I put a Borla exhaust on my S but that is as far as I am going to go. Everything else will be Dinan or Cooper Works. If my warranty was up, I would go the other direction.
