Exhaust note issues

for all you performance exhaust buffs i recently had a shop here in san diego make and exhaust for my non s using Bullet performance mufflers, i have one on a VW and love the sound and perf., now on the mini a 16 inch by 4 inch round muffler was used 2.25 inlet/outlet with a resonating tip i believe its 2.75 or 2.5 id it sounds great out side but has a lot of interior noise.... my dad says changing the tip to non resonating would do the trick, and i think adding another muffler same as above, this muffler was added where the stock first muffler is right after the conection from the manifold to the exhaust i think another could be added behind the metal square is at mid board what do you guys think ?
