Drivetrain Anyone interested in a group buy of a Miltek catback system for MCS
Three places left in a group buy of a Miltek catback system for MCS
Randy, at Webb, is willing to accomodate us.
Right now he will give us $75.00 off the $695.00 price for under 15 orders and sell them for $599 for 15. Shipping is not included and will be $35-55 in the U.S and more for APO. The U.K group buy was directly from a UK Miltek dealer who was trying to reduce inventory so the savings were greater.
$100- IS A 14% DISCOUNT, not bad, by itself.
I'm listing everyone who has expressed a definite interest, not those who have indicated a reservation based upon price. If you are interested either post to this list or PM me and I will add your name.
Randy has limited the group to 15 people as he is providing the discount himself without any help from the distributor or Miltek. There will be a deadline once the fifteen orders are committed and everyone will need to fax Randy with their personal information, including credit card info. All purchases will have to be by credit card. (See more info on my post on page 2)
Those of you who want to purchase Cooper exhausts and/or headers will need to speak to Randy about any discounts. Randy's phone number is 1-720-841-1002
As you can see, there has already been movement on and off the list below. Randy tells me this is common, and one of the reasons that group buys are a pain to organize. Be aware that the number of people who commit will determine the discount. If some people back out at the last minute the discount will not be as great so you should be prepared to indicate whether you will still be interested at the higher price (smaller discount).
Please fax Randy with the necessary informatiom, screen name, actual name, shipping and billing address, phone number and credit card info including expiration date. Since Randy's decided to limit this to 15 orders it will be first come first served. If all fifteen spots are not filled I'll repost how many openings are available. His Fax number is 1-720-344-0447.
Thanks for your interest.

I've spoken to Randy and we are now three shy of making 15, so the list is open to anyone else who wants in. Again, it will be first come first served so fax your info to him. He HAS to have a fax as it is his one way to keep the group buy separate from all his other orders. He will soon be posting a list confiming the faxes that he's received.
This IS a heck of a deal. The UK group buy took place because one of the main dealers had stock that wasn't selling. Because of VAT and other costs, aftermarket parts for MINIs don't sell well in England. So Miltek agreed to allow the dealer to sell them at that price. Miltek sells well in the States and our distributor was not willing to be involved in the discount and Miltek does not discount for group sales. So, this is Randy giving us the break for the goodwill he hopes it will generate. It certainly has generated it with me. Please buy your other MINI items from him, if he's as cheap as anyone else, which he appears to be from the items I've compared. I'm buying a Schroth driver's harness from him with this order.
Thanks to all of you who have followed through with your commitment to the group.

So far you're the only response. There was a lot of interest by US owners on the MINI2 forum when a group buy was done in the UK that was open only to UK residents. I'm surprised there has been so little resonse here. I will keep you informed.
I wish I could participate, but I am still waiting to order my MINI. And because I share a garage with 200 other apartments I would not have a place to store it. However I recently read everything on the Webb-site and want the Miltek system (since the Borla may be a bit loud for me).
Then I think I'm nuts for even considering it. I wanted to get a MINI to replace my present car (11 year old, anemic, 4wd, 1.6 liter gas hog). Also, I used to have an Austin Mini Cooper S so this may become my last childhood (of several revivals). I researched MINI for 2 years in the magazines (after rejecting Audi TT and, sorry about this, Toyota Prius and Scion xB or xA--not the breadbox). I did not learn about NAM until after I placed a deposit or I would have done things very differently.
So now I tune into NAM at breakfast and am always late for work. Half the time I tune in at dinner and blow a night. I have learned an awful lot. But it has changed my original thinking about the MINI. At first I wanted to keep it as simple as possible--especially to avoid performance mods (hoping to sneek under the radar of environmentalist friends--especially since I have been branded an environmentalist in my community--even though I used to race cars, but also to save money). But now I halfway believe that improvements to intake and exhaust could, if the car is driven lightly, improve fuel economy and engine longevity (am I kidding?). And since kenchan posted about how the 215/45-17 tires could be more comfy and Webb suggests the M7 suspension mods could do similar (my sister claims she got 16" wheels because the 17" ones made her MCS ride too harshly) I am considering those as well. Last night I even looked on the map to chart a route to Webb in Littleton. What was I thinking?
Perhaps I will sober up by the time I get to order my car. But for now I appreciate NAM members trying to get together to take advantage of a quantity discount. So typical of what I have seen on NAM. A great bunch of folks.

My fiance is hearing impaired and so I can't get anything that is too loud.

I'm in! I missed the one on Mini2 also for the lack of shipping to the US. That was a great price! Hint, hint...Randy
Myself and a least one friend are interested.
Me: full system for MCS
My buddy Joe: cat back.
Good lookin out!

If we get five folks, I can do $75 off, and the more we get, the better the price!
Darkness,
It sounds different than than the S, but not different from the "Milltek" sound - it still is mellow, just a throatier note.
For reference, what was the UK group buy price (keep in mind how weak our dollar is compared to the UK pound)?
Thanks!

Randy,
The price, in Pounds was 271.25, which was also described as being 22.5% off. It was for a group buy of ten . I now have a list of 14 interested individuals. What kind of discount can we expect for 10, what for 14?
Thanks, John

I am interested too for my 05 MCS, if price is low enough that I can afford. Don't think this groupbuy will make it ready for the pulley party you have in SF, so you can do the installation too along with the pulley installation, right Randy?
