M3 Mini Sound

I want my Mini Cooper S (2004) to sound as close to the growl of a E46 M3 as possible what would be the top choice of exhaust to go with ??

With the Milltek header/catback combo the car sounds very nice. Nice and Raspy under acceleration

For the Mini to sound like the M3 it would have to rev to 8000+ rpm and you would have to improve the induction side of things. The M3 is unique coz on the move you don't hear the exhaust note very much, its the air going into that amazing engine that gets you all tingly.

The closest I've heard to an E46 M3 on a MINI was from a supertrapp muffler, unfortunately there are no bolt-ons that sound like this, so you will have to fabricate a custom pipe(see M7's post on the battery re-location). I've heard E46's at the track with exhaust as well as the MINI with this muffler and all the baffles removed, and it sounded pretty awesome, like a higher pitched version of the M3 exhaust. To get close to 8,000 RPM, get the Webb motorsports Unichip, they have a program that will set your redline at 7,800 RPM with no valve float.

that car doesn't growl, it has a nasty tinny buzzing sound to it. probably the worst sounding BMW ever. why would you ever want to make your MINI sound like that?

remove the resonator....I did it and it sounds deep!!!....I do have a JCW exhaust, I don't know if this will make a difference. Just take it to a muffler shop and tell them to cut it and put a "trap" which is nothing more than a piece of pipe with clamps they slide on the opening and drive it around the block, if you like the sound tell them to weld a permanent pipe, if not then put the resonator back and change the muffler, but I think this cheap method ($35) will solve your problem.

M3 sound from a MCS?

First of all, you will never get the MCS to sound like the M3 you have. The M# has 6 cylinders and the 4 cylinder MCS will never sound like that. The 6 cylinder has a unique sound that cannot be made by a 4 cylinder.

That said, do what the others have suggested and enjoy the MCS for what it is!

Good Luck,
Mike (#87)

Why do you want your mini to sound like an M3? My best friend has an 8 cyl mustang (don't hate him for it and I have a 99 M3. His car sounds freaking awesome, but I wouldn't want mine to sound like it. If I wanted the 8cyl sound, I would have gone with an 8 cyl, not a 6, (or the 4 the mini has...I'm still patiently waiting).
Just wondering...
