Passenger side inner axle dust sheild...

I refurbished my axles not too long ago. I had the car up on jacks today and noticed the Right inner axle shaft's dust shield was not flush against the trans housing/input.

Right/passenger side inner axle dust cover

I was preoccupied with other points of maintenance and neglected to revisit/try and tap the dust shield to be flush with the trans/housing.
Nothing funky going on with regards to noise or vibration while driving - but I think I remember that the dust shield is able to slide along the axle shaft(?)

As it seemed rather inconsequential; I managed to tap the dust shield into place until it made contact with the transmission.

All of the dust shields I've had were attached/pinched to the axle shaft, not floating.
check this often to see if it has moved.
