I’m wanting an updated manual 6 spd gear box for my 2004 for when I do an engine swap, what’s the least expensive route to go ( not including the lsd)? Find a donor and have a shop rebuild it new, or buy a new one, break it open and install my lsd?
I went to a junkyard today, after seeing a listing for a 2006 Cooper s, but the engine and transmission was gone when I showed up. The search continues...
I would think finding a donor and having it rebuilt would be less expensive than buying new. Even less would be having your existing gearbox rebuilt, but then your car would be down for that amount of time
Yes, G285 is the getrag 6spd manual in the R53
Metric Mechanic doesn't list the G285 - these shops rebuild the getrag transmissions in BMWs, but don't rebuild the MINI getrag.
