BOV help

Hey everyone. Very new to MC community. I need a little help in choosing a BOV that won’t break the bank, sounds good and easy quick install. Really all I’ve managed to come across so far is the ALTA one. Any other suggestions?

If you want the noise, just get one of the available diverter plates and use your OEM diverter valve.

Second this. Just get a Torque Solutions or Forge BOV spacer for the noise. Converts your stock diverter valve to an atmospheric BOV. Might throw a CEL though it's pretty hit and miss who does and doesn't. I think it happens more often with automatic cars vs manual.

I’d rather not throw a CEL so should I just get the full Forge Recirc valve?
does that also provide the nice noise of is that more for performance. I dont want to throw the performance off too much just for a noise.

thanks for all your help!

I've personally installed a few of those diverter plates on a couple different cars, N18 and N14, and no CEL. I think the cars the got a CEL from the diverter plates had something else going on.

There’s honestly little to no performance benefit from any aftermarket DV/BOV. It’s only functioning when the car is off throttle if you think about it. How quickly it helps the turbo spool up is negligible and the only reason you’d ever need to upgrade is if it isn’t venting/recirculating enough air, which is not a problem anyone really has with any stock frame turbo.

DV / BOV is a waste of time, unless you're changing the turbo --- personal opinion! If you're concerned with sounds, go for an exhaust system. Expensive, yes, but saving for it will also get you time to get familiar with your car, learn about what's available and where to get it, and how / when to perform routine maintenance. Also, if it's not a brand new or recently rebuilt N14, establish its reliability --- these engines are extremely unreliable. Ensure you don't have a lemon before throwing upgrade money at it.
