Performance limits of the Aisin Auto?

Im having a R56 2010 Cooper S Automatic with a (probably) blown engine. Engine knock on idle and slightly above so im thinking maybe a rod or piston has gone bad. Well serviced, but 21psi on stock internals for 10 years is probably the cause.

When rebuilding and reinforcing, plans are upgrading to a JCW Turbo and a stage 3 map if the auto can take it.

Ive searched for what feels like an etyrnity, but have yet not found the limits for the Aisin auto? Is there proven figures that work?

The limits for the gearbox vill be the limiting factor for me, so im really curious of what it can handle.

I have 2011 R55 with an Auto with a Stage 3 tune, it acts pretty dumb. The auto shift points in sport mode really are kinda dumb, also dumps boost stupidly easy. I often find myself switching to manual mode (semi manual technically) for most of my shifting when I go "boy racer" mode

Thanks for the input!

Do you know how much torq you run with the Stage 3?

I also use the paddles for spirited driving.

I haven't had an official dyno yet but probably close to the average for stage 3 peeps, between 250-275 most likely. Have some things to fix before I trust it to dyno. Most of the veterans here agree the transmission can handle up to around 290/300 torque.

Thats alot of torq! Im running about 250-255 torq with my current setup.

Sounds like a JCW turbo and a remap can be a realistic option for my rebuild...

I have a 43/56 turbo, your JCW size turbo should be fine.
