Megan Exhaust Header from Pilo Racing

The Header consists of 1.5" primary tubes, and a 2.25" Final tube. Both are .25 larger then the stock Exhaust Manifold.

The first version that we have available is a race version with a 6" flex pipe and 2 - O2 Sensor Fittings in the stock locations to allow for sensors to be fit.

The header is constructed with 16 gauge Mandel Bent Stainless Steel that has been highly polished.

You can get all this at the introductory price of $245.00.

We are working on a second version that will be a street / track version with replaceable test pipe for a catalytic converter.

This will be on our site www.piloracing.com very soon.

aha! again the Pilo has broken the price cartel.

Since the tubing is larger, the primary length would have to be longer to keep the stock tuning. Is the tuning of the primaries maintained vs. stock?

Great price!
I can't wait to see the catalytic converter version, any hints on the price?

The primaries are longer, approx twice as long then stock,

The new version will have them at about 75% longer primaries (then stock), with the same diamater. The price I estimate will be 260-270 with test pipe, and 400 with Converter.

Probably late Jan. - Early Feb. They are making one for me to test out, and build the cat around, once finalized, we will start production. The race only that we have is a limited production, and will probably not be available for too much longer, at this really low price.

well, $245 for a header is no big deal, but $400 with a Catalitic! Now that's a good price. Great work

wouldn't it be better for the exhaust ports to be oval-shaped like on the stock header and heads, instead of round like this?

all in all great work Dan. i'll definitely look into the cat version in the future. looks good, price is great, good build quality and welds-what is Megan Racing doing that guys like Madness and MiniMania aren't? all we need is dyno figures now.

Fantastic price! I've been holding-off until I got a re-worked head, but with that in the plans for early '05, very good timing Dan...

For those of us with 2.5" catbacks, are we also 2.5 at the flange where we mate-up with the header flange? Stock is 2.25, like this header...

The internal diamater is an exact 2.25, and the external is 2.38"

The stock internal at the flange is 2.0 or smaller depending on the location because of the welding on the inside.

The only welding on this is on the out side, so you will not have any loss of diamater as in stock header.

The Inside diamater of the flange it self is 2.40, where the very end of the stock can be measured at 2.20. This will give you the better flow into a 2.5" diamater exhast the the stock.

Maybe not, if Dan has a secret "round-port" reworked head in development?

Sweet of MINI-Pilo to come out an offer parts at reasonable realistic prices!

I truly wish i could buy this right now just to support your for your efforts in getting us these low priced parts. But with new house projects going on i truly can't. If they were to stick around for a while i'll probably end up getting one!

Ceramic coatings is possible, I just have to get a price.

The cat version is still in the redesign process will be a bit longer.

Regarding the design of the ports, we are going to test the performance, if there is an issue, I will have them re-designed. This first set was with out much of my input. The next sets will be my design.

Thanks
Dan

The Ceramic coating will be and additional 135 for a Cool Chrome Look, or 125 for the Cool Black Look done by Calico coatings.

The new version will be a 1 piece with CAT. I have sent Megan Racing a new Header Flange design to reflect the head exhaust opening of the mini cooper, instead of the circular openings. This will be a great header, and will still be a great price.

can you comment on the quality of the cat? 200 cell, 300 cell, etc. what will be the expected lifespan of this cat?

I just saw some prelim designs, and it is looking nice now. The flange looks much better. I am waiting on the specs of the CAT that they have access to. When I get that I will let you all know.

On a side note, The inventor of the Catalytic Converter used to live down the road from me!
