RMW Shorty Header - Broken flex pipe

Hey Everyone,

I've been hearing a slight exhaust leak, which has progressively gotten louder each morning when i start the car up. I was able to quickly jack it up and diagnose it as a flex pipe crack. I can cut out and replace the old flex pipe, but I just haven't been able to completely measure it up and wondered if anyone knew the sizing of the flex pipe and if anyone had a well built one I could order in advance of pulling it all apart. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

Unfortunately I can't give you any actual specs, but it should be a 2½" diameter, get a hold of RMW they should be able to help you there.

Did you replace/upgrade your upper motor mount before or when you installed the Header?
The factory motor mounts amount of movement is the normal cause for the flex basket to fail on those headers.
Unfortunately, more times than not, the mount change is perceived as being known and understood, not necessarily advertised as being needed with install.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I changed every mount when i rebuilt the car. It has the powerflex inserts as well, so the motor flex is minimal. When i got underneath the car, with the engine running, to find the leak, I could see the harmonic resonance vibrating the flex pipe, so it makes sense that it broke.

Bump does anyone know the spec on the flex basket used on RMW shorty? Assume its a Vibrant? Need mine repaired and wanted to hopefully source a good one before crawling under there and taking measurements and or removing header.

I bought a bunch of different flex pipes, and used the one that fit most closely. I ended up putting it on and having the flex pipe fail again, so I've been running the stock header. If you do ever work out what one it is, let me know as I miss my RMW header on my GP!
