I have mine set between the middle and the lowest setting. It is real easy to change the setting so play with it some. You'll find the setting you like best. I have tried it a few ways and that setting is working good for me. I wasn't completely happy with the Alta until I put a Whalen **** on it. The weight of the Whalen makes the shifts a lot smoother. Not to mention it's the nicest looking thing on my car. The Whalen ***** are like art work.

Spider,

If you saw your first post this morning, I replied about how I hoped that the installer left off the bottom cover plate of the shift box. If he left it on, then your adjustment is limited!

To adjust you need to do the following.

Lift up the shift boot ring. Just pop it up, it's easy. Under the shift boot you will see where the shift stick slides down though a shaft. At the top of this shaft are three (I believe) very small set screws (allen type). With an allen wrench, loosen these set screws. You can now raise and lower the shift stick to the height desired. You will see three rings on the stick. I run mine so that the top ring is about level with the shaft. If you find that your shifter will not go down that far and it seem like it is hitting something, then I would guess that the installer left that cover on. .

I've run mine for over 35k miles. I ended up liking it best at about halfway - considering throw vs. effort.

When we get together, maybe we should drive each other's cars to compare.

I posted a note to you at ATLMINIs in the Cordele auto-x thread.

Just make sure the 3 set screws are Loctite'd to the shaft, they have a habit of loosening over time otherwise

Ditto the underside cover will interfere if you set the shifter height too low.

The Miltek header- catback and Bilsteins are going on Tuesday. After that would be a great time together. You can give me some input for tweaks.
Thanks Jim,

I just got the Alta Short Shifter installed last weekend and I like it. I still have the Alta **** on it. My new Whalen is on order to fit the Alta as I don't want an "adapter". I like the Alta Short Shifter better than stock but I like the Whalen beter than stock (by far) and better than the Alta ****.

I agree re the Alta ****. Used the UUC I got from Randy for a long time.

Was comparing the Whalen - seemed that some could go either way. Both had strong points.

But then I got a chance to play with the new Threshold Motorsports shift ****. Costs less and it was much better in every way. I love it with my Alta short shifter.

I have my SS adjusted to the middle position with a Whalen and it is VERY nice.

I also got my Bilsteins in UPS today and if you have never seen them in person they are "works of art" My God they are gorgeous. Everyone at RSpeed was very impressed. If they work 1/2 as good as they look I'll be thrilled. update to follow Tuesday night.

The Miltek header is in as well and it is very nice. Great workmanship is to be had that is for sure. So far every mod has improved the car significantly, that is why I keep going.

Gauge pod is in and aside from a fogging problem which I can fix they are very cool to look at. I think I mentioned I have a pilots ticket and like gauges.

That's one mod I've been wanting to do, but have never gotten around to it. Unfortunately, I want all of these:

oil pressure
oil temp
water temp
boost pressure
wideband O2 a/f ratio

Plus, I'd kinda like to have input air/output air temps as well. Guess I'd need a real cockpit for all that! Maybe a heads up display? LOL

But I can't figure a way to make it look really good and like it was actually planned as a complete gauge system.
