Thanks!
I was have a little trouble making sure I was looking at the correct part.

There's a sports car type shop about 3 miles from my house. I think I'm going to call tomorrow about doing a dyno run and what they charge. I'm thinking this would be a good time to get a baseline on the engine.

Whats the going price for that in general? No tuning, just a pull.

My dyno run (Dynojet) was 3 pulls for $150 but it varies so it will cost a few bucks if you do a before and after but it's really the only way to validate a performance increase.

Three pulls to get an average? My "after" may be a while, so I just curious as to where I'm at right now as compared to stock.

Three pulls to measure your "max." They're progressive runs at higher RPMs (and to get it to running temp) to ensure your engine is running at its peak when measured.

Bumping this thread for a question to the OP... did you swap to these injectors to eliminate pinging? or was it to just fatten up the AFR...?

I just finished the 17% pulley swap and will be monitoring things to see what needs to be addressed. I typically dont bounce off redline much but would expect to be in the 5500-6k range from time to time.

I had the dealer install the JCW 210 tune so I needed the 380cc injectors. but the 380's would still be a very smart idea with a 17% pulley

Yeah they are in a cart ready to purchase... Will see how it runs as is and if there is any issue, it will get bumped up in the priority list. I have another tool in the toolbox to combat pinging, I would prefer to get that implemented first before shoving more fuel at it.

Thanks for posting this info up!!

Just found this thread.. I am about 99% sure my R53 has an injector that is clogged, as it pings above 5500RPM, but it has always pinged above 5500 since I owned it stock. I always just ran 100+ octane at the track, thinking it was a clogged cat or something.. whoops.

Intake, header, exhaust, 17%.

Ordered up the parts, gonna run the adapters (had a set on my other R53 for 3 years now, no issues on 550cc) and if it resolves my problem, which I am 99% sure it is as I have eliminated everything else, I'll crimp on connectors.

Excellent find - thanks again. Hope the spray pattern is the same!

The Volvo injectors have four spray ports instead of the stock two. That means better fuel atomization. They run like a charm on my modded/tuned R53.

Installed them last night.

Car runs great, fired right up, no boost leaks even with the stock orings surprisingly.

Used some of my wire harness adapters from my 550cc Bosch injectors, the clip style, worked great.

No more lean codes at WOT above 5500, and no more pinging either. No check engine light either.

F.Y.I. The o-rings that come on the Bosch Volvo injectors are slightly smaller than the stock MINI version. I would recommend that they be changed to MINI o-rings to ensure a perfect seal.

I would also recommend the same, but I am just adding my experience.

That being said, I ordered stock orings to put back onto the new injectors.

Since you ordered them can you post up the part number? Otherwise I'd just go to napa auto parts, find the correct one and slap them in there.

I got a set of these Volvo injectors but can’t figure out how to get the injector clips to hold them in the FI rail. Did you use the OEM clips?

update: figured it out. I had them pushed too far into the rail.

Just a heads up: when using the adaptors you'll eventually get a misfire. When that happens simply remove the adaptors and hit them (and your injectors pins) with some electrical contact cleaner and reinstall. Also, ensure that your wire clips on your injectors are fully installed.

So it’s prob best that once I get a misfire maybe go with the harness mod as OP did from the start.
I def appreciate the heads up and esp a remedy

I've had my adaptors on for over a year and have only had the one problem which was easily fixed with a cleaning. Since I have a limited edition Mini (MC40) I didn't want to alter the harnesses in case someone in the future wanted to restore it to the stock injector configuration. I say go with whatever makes you comfortable.
