ok this is just what i think prove me wrong? ok take the mcs engine 1.6 4 banger ok simple engine.ok take a honda 1.6 b16a 4 banger.ok now the mini has been out sence 02 so the engine is allmoast 3 years old.ok take the b16 correct me if im wrong the crx in japan had the b16 sence 1988.the engines seem kinda close as for a match well kinda.
-Cant really compare a honda engine with a different bore and stroke, vtec, higher compression and 2000rpm higher redline to the mini.

superchargers are old technology.turbos have been proven to produce much more hp.back in the day ya superchargers were the in thing till nitrous. then people came out with motec, aem, hondata computers then turbos took off.worlds fastest engines use turbos
- I think John Force would disagree with this statement but I'm a turbo guy so I'm not going to get into that argument. Actually turbo and superchargers have been used for a large # of years, Eaton for instance is on its 4th or 5th revision with it's SC. In a twincharged situtaion utilizing the newest generation eaton(bypass valve) as used in the cooper and the latest in Turbo technology(the new Garrett GT28rs which we use in the helix/psi-fi kit.) twincharging in my opinion and I could have designed a kit either way is a better all around alternative with this platform:
1) the car already comes with an intercooler SC that has alot of bottom end oomph(just not enough top end)
2) using just a turbo would efffectively lose the bottom end/mid range power (when sizing a turbo there is always a sacrifice on one end or the other)
3) Properly sizing the turbo with the factory S/C allowed us to keep a wide powerband with no downside, we are running the turbo in its max efficiency island to achieve our 250whp power level, this power level can be pushed towards 350hp if we choose to crank the boost up higher(i have plenty of injector left over to do this).

hondas
supras
pro street cars

and everytime i have seen someone make a twin charge thing it seems to not work as well as one power adder.it just seems if the worlds fastest cars use only turbos what makes the mini engine so diffrent from them?????????????????
The magic of getting this to all work perfectly is in the tuning, The tuning on the Helix/Psi-Fi kit is pretty damn good, no CE lights, no driveability issues, very clean fuel trims. like a stock S till you put your foot in it. This kit makes your factory S fell like a much bigger engined car, more power everywhere as soon as you hit the loud pedal.

Yup, that'd be very interesting …Cooler/denser intake charge - maybe run less boost & get equivalent HP. ...Or really push the edge of the tuning envelope.

psi-fi are you one of the people making the twin charge kit??? and im just wondering do you have a list of everything you did to the car?? i see what you are talking about you have power in all of the range like for auto xing ect. sorry im use to drag racing, well i thought they worked out the turbo lag problem allready?? and about the iron block in the mini sounds like a good thing, well for the supra it is. it can hold about 800hp in stock foarm.has anyone taken a minis engine to the max to see what it can take??? if i had the money i would do it.

Isn't there a German tuner who's already produced an MCS with twinscrew? I seem to remember a certain dyno video with flames coming out the tail pipe.

BMP quote 287 hp *AT THE CRANK* not at the wheels. They extrapolated that number from a 238 or 243 whp figure that they actually measured.

k20, if you do a little bit of research (hell, just search this site), you'll see that almost all of your questions have been answered in previous threads. The best way to get accurate information on the ProMINI car is to go right to the source, ProMINI has an email address you can reach them at for information on the turbo S and the Blue Thunder.

According to SEARCH, the S comes with forged internals from the factory. Also according to SEARCH, the engine can handle around 300whp, but the Getrag gearbox can only handle around 250whp.

Hi Zamirz,

Just wonder your SEARCH is double correct. The reason for me to get better confirmation on the factory engine is because I will starting a project on my 'S' with Rotrex supercharger which claimed to generate 23lb boost with approx. of 250 whp.

Earlier on I was searching hard for the factory engine specs to reconfirm if all the internal engine parts such as pistons, etc can take such much load.I'm also worry for engine blow.

Kindly advise should you have any info on it.I will be staring the project once the kit arrive me waybe next week.

Thankyou.

Peter.

I believe the MCS uses Mahle 142 eutectic aluminum/silicon alloy pistons (same material as a GM LT1 engine).
