Old exhaust - new MINI ???

I have an 05 MCS and want to hang an aftermarket exhaust on it. I've been told that most exhausts built for 03 and earlier cars won't fit. Is this true? If so, why? And, can anything be done to make an earlier exhaust work?

Tanks, ripley.

In early 2004, MINI changed the brackets, so that the rear exhaust hangers are now at 90 degrees in relation to the earlier 02 - 03 units. As for the 05 I don't know it there have been more changes. Earlier aftermarket exhausts can be made to fit the later 04 brackets with minimal work (any competent muffler shop can do it in less than 1/2 hour). It should be do-able and inexpensive too.

The only system that I'm certain that fits the '05 and doesn't require modification is the Milltek. The 05's are the same as the 04's.
