RPM spool down

Does anyone else find it annoying that the engine RPM's hang in bettween shifts? My MSC has about a 1 second delay before the RPMs start dropping. The dealer says its perfectly normal but I cant believe its by design. Any suggestions?

A one second delay?

Are you waiting one second between shifts? I give it a little gas between shifts as I want to keep the RPMs UP.

It has to do with the weight of the crank pulley and the flywheel.

Get a lightened flywheel if you want quicker revving.

It's the e-gas solution for lowering emissions. The e-gas system controls the throttle so it doesn't snap closed with an overly-rich mixture, thus lowering the noxious emissions output.

Most ECU remaps remove that "feature"

Keep the stock flywheel if you want the revs to DROP between shifts. A lightened flywheel will allow it to spin UP more easily, but the heavier one slows down the revs with the clutch in.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Cheers!

I thought a lightened flywheel would allow all RPM changes, up or down, to be more immediate.....???? Am I just thinking of the effects on engine braking from lifting? Read something, somewhere.....

Any recommendations on ECU?

I would think as tonto said, that a lighter flywheel would allow the revving of the motor to be more responsive. This means when revving up and backing off and dropping. The heavy stock flywheel has got more mass, and can store more energy, and that's part of the reason why it doesn't rev up or down INSTANTLY. Couple that with the emissions coding, that's probably everything involved with the delay.

I would just get use to the shifting. Since the gear ratios are close
together it is easier to shift without the rpms falling too quickly. Even
with the heavy flywheel, I am shifting much faster than my 6MT on my
G35C which has a MUCH faster spool (normal traffic).

Consider yourself corrected. See a basic physics book. Look under Newton. Newton was a fun guy. He wont mind if you look.

Motor on

CoryB has it right, and switching to a lighter flywheel without turning the "hang time" off will only make it worse- way worse.

Who's ECU removes this?

I can't speak about any of the others, but I have the MTH upgrade and it doesn't hang at the higher RPM any more.
