are there an cons using a turbo heat shield?
I know the benefit from using a turbo heat shield is under hood heat management.... does that create an issue because it increases temp of the turbo itself because it cant dissipate heat as well? or is it a non issue?

You might take a look at WMW's turbo blanket.....it does the job and your valve cover will not melt. I run one of his blankets, the OEM heat shield, and an NM shield for daily driving, autocrosses, and track days. The blanket is designed to hit our turbos....not a generic blanket.
Plus one on the Way Motor Works turbo blanket. a turbocharger is a heat engine, keeping the heat in it with lagging (insulation) is the best way to improve the efficiency of a turbocharger, it also helps keep the heat off of the rest of the turbocharger. you can expect a 20F temperature drop with the under hood temperature. the metal plate kind of heat shield, mostly just looks good.

I'm another one for the 'more is better' approach. I ran a metal heat shield on my 08 for over 70k miles with no valve cover melting issues, because I retained the factory shield. I just installed a WMW blanket under the stock shield to try and control the heat better. I also installed a M7 metal shield over the top, mostly for aesthetics. So far, so good.
