Too Loud For Me

Well, I went and did it. I changed out my stock R53 header & cat with a performance unit, and bolted it to a Borla Sport Exhaust. The setup makes nice power, but the interior noise is pretty bad. I am relatively sure that the "cat" that is attached to the header is the culprit, as it is a low restriction unit.

Question: I have a almost equal investment in both the header & exhaust. If one of the two unites were to be sacrificed, which one ( the header w/ cat or the Borla Sport exhaust) would you sacrifice and why?

Thanks for any feedback. JD

I'm no expert but I feel like you can resonate it somehow without having to completely get rid of half your setup?

The Sport version is resonated.

I would give up the header. If you put the stock one back on the time of the exhaust will quiet down a substantial amount.

I have a header with a 200 cell high flow that is mated to the JCW exhaust. Good power, better gas mileage and the sound is not an issue. I was quite concerned on the decibels as I already have a hearing lose.

You might be able to go with a different resonator.

Which header/cat did you install?
