Switching units extremely stiff ,

Has anyone ever rebuilt the switching unit on a 6 speeds trans ‘ mine is starting to get extremely stiff’ I haven’t pulled it from the trans yet , just wanted to pick some minds before pulling it’ Can it be taken apart, maybe throw some kind of Assembly lube on it ? Maybe a new spring !

Have you checked the linkage --- on top of the tranny? Is it the cables or the tranny gears that are stiff? Sometimes, things "shift around" in the engine compartment --- hoses sag onto the linkage and cause binding. This is easier to check than jumping straight into a major disassembly.
