A T-MAP sensor reads temperature and pressure. The "T" in the acronym stands for Temperature.

Easiest way to explain is the MAP sensor is priority in engine calibration when under vaccum. The T-MAP sensor is priority under boost. This is why ALL tuning boxes alter signals to the T-MAP. The better more fine tuned tuning boxes use MAF, MAP, and TMAP.

MAP, TMAP, MAF, and throttle body position are all looked at to give the best resolution at idle and low load.

I'll go along with that, but I'm not completely wrong either. T= Temperature + MAP= Manifold Absolute Pressure. So it monitors both.

Looks like Cravenspeed is sold out.
Did u guys find any other “cheaper” solutions to tap a meth nozzle?

Drill a hole on the stock rubber hose and use this http://www.aquamist-direct.com/806-3...aptor-4-5-6mm/

Thanks. This looks promising and gives flexibility on where to mount the nozzle.

Now just gotta figure out what size thickness the hose is...

Welp. I did it.
Went on a spending spree.
JB4 is finally installed on my car.

1) BMS Meth kit
2) BMS 2gal tank
3) Cravenspeed Throttle Body Spacer

Will update eventually when I get everything installed.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed in hopes of no engine exploding this time :-)

seriously, I look forward to hearing how it goes!

right! That’s the goal. Not going anymore aggressive on the tune. Just using WMI for safety. Higher octane and increased cooling. Since I use 91 octane and don’t have an Intercooler.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I've been tinkering with the idea of a water meth set up for a few months now but never pulled the trigger. I've been on the JB4 for a while now and pretty much every aftermarket engine mod available and need more.

Yeah. I had meth on my R56. Isn't as nice as it is now. R56 you pick no failsafes (basically) or use Aquamist which is complicated to set up and you need to splice ECU harness.

With the JB4 its so nice. It can bump to safety maps. Add meth to data logs. Control parameters via laptop or phone (instead of tiny dials on meth boards).

Can't wait until its all integrated.

Are you planning on running it with your current tune (RPM) and using the JB4's FSB or are you using the JB4's tune with it's FSB? Also do you have a shop that will dyno and tweak the tune for the meth or will you send logs to Terry to adjust for you? Sorry for all the questions hahah. I'm just trying to see which road you're going to take.

Hi all! Wanted to interject as I am about to go all in on this meth project myself.

I have an F56 JCW, and I work at Baron MINI in Kansas City. We have a customer who came in recently and said "make it as crazy as you can" without any budget cap. Among many other things, we're installing an AEM meth injection kit.

In doing some research, we discovered that it is not uncommon to convert the wiper fluid tank to be the reservoir for the methanol mix. As we discovered, wiper fluid is usually about 70/30 water and methanol, where as the solution recommended for this purpose is about 50/50, which will work fine as a windshield washer fluid as well.

The technician working on the car removed the fluid line fitting from the provided AEM tank, and threaded it into the very bottom of the wiper fluid tank of the customer's R58. Because the AEM tank had a level warning sensor, it was unhappy because it was disconnected and not used in the wiper tank. By splicing together the wires for the sensor, it was happy, thinking the tank always has fluid in it, and we can now rely on the car's built in wiper fluid warning light as a level sensor for the methanol.

With this idea, there is no external tank to mount, no long lines to run, and no lost trunk space. This is when I got excited and ordered my kit.

For the F56, the ideal place to mount the injector nozzle is just after the intercooler, at the bottom of the boost pipe that runs up to the throttle body. This gives the mixture plenty of time to atomize before it reaches the sensors.

I'll be using a sandwich bung that I found at the link below to drill into the factory rubber boost pipe.

I'll also be using NM Engineering's Boost Sensor Tap for the kit to use as a boost reference.

Hope this is helpful! I'll post updates when I get to work on my car. Should be pretty soon.

I'm using this boost tap. Also billet and pretty much the exact same as NM's but will save you a little bit of money. Been running strong for about 6 months so far with no leaks.

Update: I installed the pump last night, and there is a spot under the windshield cowling between the wipers and the ABS module that is simply MADE for this pump to fit into. I'm really happy with how well it slid into place.

Super easy spacer install. Used the CravenSpeed Throttle Body Spacer for F56. Has a NPT Bung for Meth or Boost Tap

Interested in answers for these questions as well. If anyone has input that would be great.

still on RPM Map and using the JB4 on Map 4 so it doesn’t affect the tune. JB4 is currently used as a meth controller and for data logging. Working on getting safety features running (Ex: switch maps to cut boost when it goes over safety, switch maps with low meth, switch maps AFR lean etc..) but BMS needs to make me a custom firmware.

Anyone know if methanol injection affects spark plugs? Went back to stock map since I was having dealer work on stuff on the car. Car is having a "sputter problem" on acceleration even with the stock map with no meth. I wonder if meth did something to my plugs unless it is a totally unrelated issue. I ordered new plugs as a precaution. Sounds like the car chokes mid way through acceleration. Will clean MAF when plugs come in also.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Thanks

Make sure your nozzle isn't leaking or a boost leak. Common problem is a leaky nozzle causing fluid to leak into your intercooler and pooling up causing sputtering issues. Also a prime spot to place a nozzle is right after the intercooler far away from the throttle body. Give's the water/meth more time to atomize before reaching the intake manifold.

After a few months running my meth kit, I am very happy with it. Tons more power, especially torque. Even with my 200 treadwear track tires, I can spin the tires all the way through first and second, and chirp in third. I have my nozzle mounted in the spot described by Andrew Park.

Nice! Did you mount it on the silicone tubing? What do you use as a meth controller?

How do you guys feel about drilling here for the meth nozzle (The Red "X" on the right side of the photo)? I’d like it before the sensor so the ECU can see the drop in temp and not overly raise boost with high IATs since I don’t have an Intercooler.

Waaaay to close? Or you guys think it will do?
Seems like the easiest install. Going from the bottom near the IC will likely be very difficult.

Thoughts?

Hopefully BMW saved money and kept the same design.

What do you guys think?

if you have a mirror version of that BEHR unit, it might fit.

Forge pipe is a good place for some injectors as well.

Installing a bung on the intercooler outlet side shouldn't be difficult. You can access it just by taking the under tray off and removing the hose.

New set up. Hope to see some IAT drops now!
