Is the 19% pulley really bad?

Hey Everyone,

So I haven't been in the Mini game since the mid 2000's and back then the 19% was the best (most usable power) for a daily driver. It would seem it is no longer even an option for people to do now on most sites i've looked at. I ended up picking up a mini that has a 19% pulley and I'm wondering if people would say to pull it off and put something a bit bigger on it. The past owner has had it on the car for 50k miles and there hasn't been any hiccups with it, however, i dont think he was reving it to redline every day. Any thoughts?

I guess it's not terrible, the drawbacks of a 19% pulley are that it will over rev the supercharger at/before redline. The other drawback is that with that much compression, you're adding heat to the intake charge and so it's kind of counterproductive from an outright power standpoint.

For a daily driver that never sees redline it's probably fine, but it would make me a bit nervous, and I have a 17% pulley on mine, but avoid revving over 6,000 RPM.

it depends on how much time you spend over 6000 rpm, the 17% goes well over the rating, the 19% quite a bit more on top of that

stock supercharger rpm at 6950 engine rpm, off the oem pressure/efficiency map
15% 16,844
17% 17,249
19% 17,675

i have a 17% on mine and I do this to it, I try to stay between 5000 and 7000 rpm lol

without meth I hit 180 degrees on the track

Since its already on there, I'd probably leave it.
From your location, your probably fine as long as your not tracking the car, stock to 6500 max, and are aware of the heat in the hot months.
If you lived in the south of probably rethink it.
