Drivetrain Dinan Comparison: I Thought I was Happy
"If you ever do a comparison to the modes of SPORT-- the race settings gets you a slightly higher peak number but it falls on its face quicker in comparison the sport + setting which also has a slightly fuller mid range. Basically Race gets you a big number on paper and a more violent low end so it may feel its faster but Sport+ is actually the best setting (at least for 91 octane) for just spirited driving.
I have never seen what the boost targets are for ELITE on the MINI to be honest but if they are like BMW they are slightly higher just because of the additional control over fueling and what not since you can tell the car how to behave rather then it being reactionary."
I take my previous statements back.
OMG, this car is now so fast!!!
Im guessing it took longer than I anticipated for the DME to relearn after being reset.
After 75 minutes driving in traffic to work:
I "accidentally" did a burnout going across an intersection!!!!
1/2 Throttle!!
Sport mode, trans in Sport Plus, Traction control off, this thing is a beast!!

Got this directly from Dinan in response to my query:

Wow, this is great, thank you for sharing! Looks like I might switch to Sport to compare.
Cool.
Karma Kommittee says you gave blood on the Dinan Sport install so your debt has been paid.
Can't wait to hear if you're smokin' tires like PostSound. Have fun and please report in.

Yep. Still have to install my Ziza back up LED's, my new lower motor mount with Powerflex bushing, my new carbon fiber exhaust tips, and my CravenSpeed stainless hand brake handle. Not to mention the new S4S billet shift **** and the new CravenSpeed platypus front plate mount that I'm writing a comparison on. Being old and working with 1 1/2 arms on a good day tends to put a hitch in your giddy-up.
Hopefully Saturday for the Elite... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thank you! Now I'm actually looking forward to my first electric wheelchair!! All the ladies at the Senior Center will want to ride with me....
Maybe we can get PostSound to fit one of those bad boys with a secret compartment.
And just think what a Dinan Elite would do to the acceleration!! Boggles the feeble mind.

First day thoughts:
Dinan Elite is a seamless boost to the cars performance whereas the Dinan Sport is a rough and tumble ride. In some ways the Sport is more enjoyable because it lets you know that you are screwing around to get extra power. The Elite just makes the car more like the way it should be. It has unlocked the detuning done by MINI.
If I had a brand new car with factory warranty I'd buy an Elite. Especially when the weather turns hot and the Sport was iffy.
If I had an older out of or almost out of warranty MINI I might just go with the Sport if money was tight.
If I had lots of mods or was planning to do them I'd go with an ECU tune to take better advantage of them and create a little beast of a car. Frankly driving regular traffic on the roads I wouldn't be able to use that power.
I'll probably change my mind over the next weeks, but for one day that is all I've got.
I didn't thrash the car about like some others might have, not near as crazy a driver as I used to be. No lane splitting highways on the motorcycle or down crowded NYC streets on a Saturday night.
btw - I hope to avoid the electric scooter old age thing, it's better to burn out then fade away.

sorry), not helpful, but couldn't hold myself back.
Seriously, if the change at second gear you are experiencing is post-Elite install, perhaps a chat with the smart engineers at Dinan might be useful to both you and Dinan. Because if the box is contributing to what you're feeling, that's an algorithm flaw that might need a software tweak. If....

Lets see if other new Elite owners see this issue.
With paddles, and a JCW steering wheel, a magical force field is generated which prevents all manner of glitches. But it only works if you have an 8 speed sport auto that you paid almost 2 grand extra to get, plus the added cost of the JCW steering wheel. Gotta pay to play

Oh, and you gotta have an old school single input, rough-rider tuner box.....
(If I keep wising off like this, I'm gonna get myself banned and I might not get anything under the Christmas tree this year.
)
It will be interesting to see what other "Elites" report.
In my eyes, should be kicking my but during upshift.
