HAI users: Do you change to stock for dealer service?

I have my first service coming up in 2000 km and I am debating whether or not I should switch my HAI back to the stock air intake before I take my MCS in for service.

How many of you HAI guys would switch back to stock due to concern about a hassle from the dealer? How many don't think switching back is necessary?

Thanks.

Depends on your Dealer

Revolver,

Check with your dealer's service dept first. Just call and ask what they recommend for aftermarket air intakes and routine servicing.

Most dealers will not care about any intake if you have no complaints about engine performance. They merely replace the oil filter and oil in the first servicing and check for any computer fault codes if present. Anything obstructing the oil filter needs to be removed- such as a strut tower brace.

Ask the dealer for new windshield wiper rubber blades if they are streaking and if you have an MCS check the PCV valve and rubber hose for a soft feeling or if it is collapsing. The hose should be very firm and sits on top of the engine near the "MINI" name plate.

If you want to have them install any ECU software upgrade make sure that you have nothing blocking access to the MCS rear battery such as a subwoofer- remove it first.
