OEM hoses will fit fine. Inlets and outlets are the same diameter

Just ordered mine today. Paid 200 though. The ones for 168 don't have the support brackets. I plan to with strip the black paint with aircraft removed or paint it aluminum. I don't like the black stealth look

I ordered one and should be here tomorrow. Looks like the same vendor from Ohio has new stock, paid $164 with the mounting tabs.

The unit arrived a week after ordering. Installed and working great. I feel great saving a good $500 from the name brand! Gonna spend it on RPM tune soon!

That is the same one I have. I had to cut off those mounting lugs to get it to fit, however. Been running great for about 1-1/2 years.

It's advertised for fitting the LCI models. Are you saying you have to modify it to fit 11-13 Mini's?

With the lugs cut off, it fit excellent. Mine is mounted with the two side tabs on the OEM rubber bushings.

The 2013 has an additional lower crash bar that will need to be modified to fit the intercooler. I cut the central tab off of the intercooler and left the top and bottom lugs in place.

I cut all the top and bottom lugs off to fit my crash bar. Apart from that, its a nice piece, especially for the price.

How can you tell the difference between the tube/fin style vs. the bar/plate style?

Oh, OK, I see the difference. Welded construction vs. the forged or cast outer structure.

There's a thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...iscussion.html with datalogs showing the effectiveness of various intercoolers in reducing IATs. Get some datalogs and add to the thread, it's real numbers not just auto forum butt-dyno claims.

Last I looked, Alta's website had a good description of the construction difference between bar/plate and tube/fin. It's not the end tanks, it's the air passages between where the acutal heat exchange happens. Both can work well if well designed and implemented.

I picked up a Wagner clone off eBay last week. I was going to go with a Forge-ery (lol) but they are almost all around $300 and the two I tried to order that were cheaper were mysteriously out of stock. Anyway, the Wagner one looks fantastic and I hope it performs well. Even after all of the various threads out there, I couldn't really decide which one(s) were best. It sounds like whichever way you go, the China copies perform on par with the big name brands out there.

Hoping to get all the go fast bits installed this week and then hit Mario up for his downpipe and RPM tune next month. Good stuff, thanks to all who continue to feed this junkie's mod fix.

There's a great intercooler discussion here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...iscussion.html, I made it a sticky. Some beyond-the-butt-dyno datalogs of IATs.

I'm getting ready to order one of these intercoolers and wondering if I should order and replace the kit with silicone hoses. Is there any bump in performance by installing these silicone hoses?

No, just check your charge pipe and boost pipe. Some models has a restriction.

Installed the Gplus ebay intercooler myself about a week ago and pleased with the results. I'm getting 2-3 degC above ambient during cruising speeds vs 5-6 degC with the stock. I've also seen 6-8 degC above ambient at WOT vs up to 15 degC with the stock. The only downside is that at stop and go traffic I get 10-11 degC above ambient vs 7-8 degC with the stock. So overall satisfied.

So would a stock daily driver benefit from one of these? My ride is getting a warranty turbo and the dealer spotted the stock IC has been hit and possibly leaking.

If you're gonna replace the stocker then you might as well pick up an Ebay intercooler for cheaper than OEM new. You won't feel much power but the intake temps will stay colder which means more consistent power

How about spooling up would it end up in a higher RPM? The black one linked above is out of stock sadly. I was digging that one.
