Drivetrain The Turbo......To cover, or Not to cover?

No, the Turbocharger does not need to be removed to install the Way Motor Works turbo wrap.
What price difference? They are within a few dollars of each other.
But the M7 heat shield is only a heat shield, protecting the hood scoop but it does little else. It does not improve turbo efficiency
The WMW turbo wrap actually insulates the hot side of the turbocharger, keeping the heat inside the turbocharger and improving its efficiency.

the WMW is slightly modified from the "universal" blankets which i thnk Alta might be.
WMW altered the blanket to fit certain parts (feed lines i believe) for better fitment.
I would go with the WMW personally. especially since it fits properly under the oem shield, thus increasing the underhood heat decrease benefits.
the heat "shield" plates are more (imo) a "novelty" which have s light function, but more aesthetic function. the hood saver shield which attaches directly to the underhood instead of to the head are a much better choice if your looking to actually save the scoop.

I think we are all in agreement on this subject though to the best level of possible answer for your original question. if youre wanting the best solution at an affordable price without having to dismantle everything- WMW blanket is going to tbe the absolute hands down best product for heat control.
for aesthetic purposes afterwards, maybe throw on a plate. but dismantling and doing ceramic coating on everything- IMO is a waste and absurd.
