You are right, I did highjack the thread a little. The point being heat control is important in a turbo engine. A rap is a good viable alternative to ceramic coating.

So dose the turbo needs to be removed to install MWM blanket? And why such price difference between M7 and way's?
Thx

No, the Turbocharger does not need to be removed to install the Way Motor Works turbo wrap.

What price difference? They are within a few dollars of each other.

But the M7 heat shield is only a heat shield, protecting the hood scoop but it does little else. It does not improve turbo efficiency

The WMW turbo wrap actually insulates the hot side of the turbocharger, keeping the heat inside the turbocharger and improving its efficiency.

Thanks for the link. The WMW turbo wrap fits under the stock MINI heat shield, it appears that the Alta one does not. The Alta heat shield seems very overpriced for what it is.

The Alta fabric shield replaces the upper OEM factory heat shield, whereas the WMW wrap supplements the OEM factory shield. I thought I read the Alta was discontinued, too.

the WMW is slightly modified from the "universal" blankets which i thnk Alta might be.

WMW altered the blanket to fit certain parts (feed lines i believe) for better fitment.

I would go with the WMW personally. especially since it fits properly under the oem shield, thus increasing the underhood heat decrease benefits.

the heat "shield" plates are more (imo) a "novelty" which have s light function, but more aesthetic function. the hood saver shield which attaches directly to the underhood instead of to the head are a much better choice if your looking to actually save the scoop.

Actually ours is not a modified version at all. We had these completely custom made from scratch using a stock turbo as a template to make them an exact fit. That is how they fit so tight and able to avoid the waste gate rod.

that what i was going for basically, lol, thanks for clarifying it.

I think we are all in agreement on this subject though to the best level of possible answer for your original question. if youre wanting the best solution at an affordable price without having to dismantle everything- WMW blanket is going to tbe the absolute hands down best product for heat control.

for aesthetic purposes afterwards, maybe throw on a plate. but dismantling and doing ceramic coating on everything- IMO is a waste and absurd.

Not so much of static person functionality is what's I'm after, if I can keep the temperature down under hood and have my turbo run more efficiently that means my CAI will do it's intended job I will be all for it.

The WMW blanket is going to be hands down the most effective for your application.

No, the WMW blanket does not require the removal of the turbo....you will need to remove the stock turbo heat shield to gain access.
