Hey JK:
I was simply trying to get this person to make it clear that Steve has been up and up since day one. He was supremely ambiguous from the beginning. As a matter of fact he hijacked the thread in the first place! This thread was about another guy who wanted to get LSD done in his car.
See ya next Sunday!

I was down at Steve's today getting some work done, so I decided to investigate. Here is what I found:
First, the car looks great. The paint job on the trim is amazing. When I was there the Ledas and brakes were on, and they were working on the tranny. It looks like they are making good progress.
Second, I think Steve is doing everything he can to get the car done as fast as possible, and I don't think that Steve ever gave an unrealistic estimate of the completion date. Steve still does not have several of the parts to install on the car, and - as Rondor said - he actually put the brakes on El's car that he had intended to put on his car (the mechanic's equivalent of giving you the shirt off his back). All these parts should have been identified and ordered before Steve even began work on the car (which, apparently, they weren't). He also had to "lose" the car for several days while it was painted. I think this is as frustrating for Steve as it is for El.
Steve was very up-front about the fact that he would need the car for several weeks (after having the necessary parts) to do the work requested for the car, and I don't think he ever told anybody anything else. I don't think Steve ever suggested that the car would have been ready by last weekend.
I am sorry that El doesn't have his car, and I know how frustrating that can be, but I don't think Steve is to blame here. In fact, I think Steve is going above and beyond to try to get everything finished as quickly as possible.
Just my $.02 (well, maybe $.03).

Down Boys.
Rondor, I spoke with El on the phone last night, and I understand where he is coming from. He was very clear there (as I think he is here) that he doesn't think Steve is at fault for anything, and that it wasn't Steve who said he could get his car done by last weekend.
El, I understand why you're pissed, and I would be too. You're obviously paying a lot of money to get a your MINI completely tricked out, and you're not getting what you've paid for.
Now, can't we call just get along? At least you two should because you guys will have two of most highly-modded MINIs I have seen (and both red).
Although, I think (if El ever gets his) he may be able to smoke Rondor because of the LSD!   No sense wasting horsepower spinning a wheel with no traction!

looking forward to meeting you guys when I get my car back... thinking of driving up to see it today....
All I wanted was for El to simply make it 100% clear that Steve was in no way involved in whatever he was claiming. I did not ask him to say what happened or lay blame....simply make sure the community understood who WASNT to blame.
He never did until just today.
I get along with everyone. I have no beef with El.
There are many who can beat me...maybe El is one of them

I don’t know what I started here.
I do know that Steve has treated me very fair and has finished things as promised.
I have seen this Red Mini in question, and it is beautiful. I am very impressed and jealous of all the work being done. I have asked Steve about it and he informs me that it is just the parts are not arriving as expected. Steve would also like to see this project completed.
I am very happy to have met Steve. I am extremely impressed with the work he has performed on my car and I would highly recommend him to any Mini owner.

Since I was able to gather a number of people local to Steve’s with this thread. I live and work within 3 miles of his shop. My other goal is to meet people that may go out on Sunday drives. Maybe some of you can point me to a thread about this.
