Ask for Steve and tell him Chris Bryer referred you.
This guy knows MINI's front back and sideways.

Are you going to add anything else at the same time?
RDR lightweight flywheel or an M7 flywheel?
Racing clutch?
SInce the bulk of labor is to take everything apart the cost of those additions is marginal at the time of the Quaife install.
I did Quaife only and while it feels like stock when shifting and there is more traction out of turns there is the option for those other additions for a little quicker response to shifts.

Thanks for the intro Chris.
Now I’m doing a 62mm TB, Cam, Custom Intake Porting, T-stat change, Catch Can, Header, and a few more of Steve’s Custom Tricks. And we haven’t got to the Diff, and yes now the M7 Flywheel.
Steve came and took my car this morning.
Yea Chris thanks

I was the guy you met at Steve's last night. You must have the bug - I thought you were going to wait until you had your JCW upgrade before you started with the rest of the upgrades. Oh well, I'm impatient too, and I guarantee you'll like the results!
LSD in Northern California
How about a place in NorCal to get an LSD done. I would like to get this mod, and I guess I could drive/fly to SoCal, but it would be easier to get it done near home.
Anybody had it done in the SF bay area?

Hey:
Just to make sure you understand....Steve cannot do a car without the parts. When he gets them he does the work. I dont think many of your parts are in yet. I can tell you from experience that a project like yours is a 2-3 weel deal.

El Diablito Rojo:
Have you ever spoken to Steve? I dont believe you have. Perhaps if you call him at 818-891-6109 on Monday you can get the straight scoop on the status of his installation. He can only put on what he has as far as parts are concerend.
As a matter of fact I know that he used his own brake kit that was scheduled for his MINI instead of waiting for the one you were supposed to get in order to try and speed things up for you.
Give him a call.

El and Rondor,
I have been lurking on this thread because I have had a lot of work done by Steve and have never had any problems with him. I was concerned by El's posts because they suggested that Steve might not be giving others the service he has given me. This would obviously affect my willingness to recommend Steve to others.
I was down at Steve's today getting some work done, so I decided to investigate. Here is what I found:
First, the car looks great. The paint job on the trim is amazing. When I was there the Ledas and brakes were on, and they were working on the tranny. It looks like they are making good progress.
Second, I think Steve is doing everything he can to get the car done as fast as possible, and I don't think that Steve ever gave an unrealistic estimate of the completion date. Steve still does not have several of the parts to install on the car, and - as Rondor said - he actually put the brakes on El's car that he had intended to put on his car (the mechanic's equivalent of giving you the shirt off his back). All these parts should have been identified and ordered before Steve even began work on the car (which, apparently, they weren't). He also had to "lose" the car for several days while it was painted. I think this is as frustrating for Steve as it is for El.
Steve was very up-front about the fact that he would need the car for several weeks (after having the necessary parts) to do the work requested for the car, and I don't think he ever told anybody anything else. I don't think Steve ever suggested that the car would have been ready by last weekend.
I am sorry that El doesn't have his car, and I know how frustrating that can be, but I don't think Steve is to blame here. In fact, I think Steve is going above and beyond to try to get everything finished as quickly as possible.
Just my $.02 (well, maybe $.03).

as I have said before..... I HAVE NOT BLAMED STEVE 1 single time......
Nor have you made it clear that he wasnt at fault! Perhaps you should re-read what you said during this thread. It is obvious to anyone with 6th grade reading comprehension that Steve's *might* be to blame based on what YOU said.
