I would like to know if the engine block from a 2006 Mini Cooper S is the same engine block as the Mini Cooper 2005?

 

'05 S or justa? The justa has the W10 engine and W11 for the S. The same engine for the '06 and '05.

 

Thanks for your reply. I have a 2005 "justa." So could I take the '05 justa engine block and put it in my 2006 Mini Cooper S to rebuild the engine? Thanks again for your help.

 

FWIW, the Justa and S engine blocks have different part numbers, although that doesn't necessarily speak to whether they are "compatible".

the wiring harness and ECU are different....going from a r53 to a r53...that is a cooper S to a cooper S..
the block should be the same...on all r53's....
the 2005+ r53 cars got an updated ecu that had an extra sensor...as opposed to the 2004 r53...
now if you are asking if the r50 and r53 are the same. (cooper to cooper S)....NO
Been covered many times...similar, but NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

 

if i recall right, the machining for the bearings are different...they use different cranks.

 

So it seems like the core (engine block) of the 2005 justa is not compatible with the engine core (referring to the engine block only) of the 2006 Mini Cooper S, correct?
