Need help cleaning intercooler

I just recently picked up an Alta FMIC for my R55 and it was the stealth black version. The previous owner must have shown it some heat because 1/3 of the paint was off. I just had my FMIC powder-coated and prior to installing I noticed quite a bit of debris in it(sand from blasting or powder from the color). Clearly I want zero of that going into the motor so I'm looking for ways to clear it out. tape over a hole and poke an air compressor nozzle and spray air through it is the best idea I have so far but any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

(if you go against power-coating FMICs please refrain from commenting about it)

Seems like you'd be better off with suction.....maybe cover the inlet with a yogurt container lid with a hole in it and use a shop vac on the outlet side....?

I've found on the interwebs that most folks use some Acetone to clean out oil build up, slosh it around and dump it. I'm sure any debris can be cleaned out the same way. You can also rinse it out with water after, but it should be plenty clean and dry after the Acetone. There's a couple threads about this on MA.

For general debris soapy water sloshed should get any small stuff out. If it's oily then Acetone which will clean out the oil, then the acetone is a zero residue and will evaporate. Just give it plenty of time to dry before installation.

Thanks for the replies. I think ill go with soap water and let it air dry for a few days. Kind of scared having Acetone near my fresh powdercoat.

Acetone will EAT your powder coat. Fill it with GREASED LIGHTNING and then blast it thru with hot water. Dry it out with a hair dryer.

duct tape a leaf blower outlet to it and let her rip. Easy, safe, non chemical, dry approach.
