R56 S N18 vs R60 S N18

After many nights of long searching, I just can't come up with any information.

I have an R56 S with an N18 engine and would like to continue putting a theme to my engine bay. I've found it difficult to find certain pipes (mostly intake). The intake for my '13 R56 has a little sensor plug just before the turbo, but the N18 for the R60 does not. What purpose does this serve, and could I get away with this:

For US spec cars, the engines should be the same. Some of the European spec engines may not have the sensor.

That's good to know. Any idea what the sensor is for? If I'm not mistaken the pipe it's on is the PCV. I wonder how it would effect my engine if I unplugged this sensor...
If every R60 N18 I've seen doesn't have it then it must not be too important, or maybe it was placed in a different spot and not just patched out?
