Bay Area dealers mod friendly?

What's everyone experience with S.F. Bay Area dealers concerning mods? Specifically, how are they when it comes to pulley and suspension upgrades? Will they still service the car?

Thanks.

Screw them. The guys at the dealership are very nice but the service department is full of retards. For christs sake, how do you break a friggin tire pressure sensor while installing it, all it takes is a hose clamp !!!!!!!!!!!

Mountain View Mini didn't have any problem with my intake or rear sway bar. They said if I did a pulley it could invalidate the warranty for any problem the pulley might cause, but it wouldn't affect the warranty for any other items. No problems with servicing it with mods.

I had a loooooong talk with a Service Advisor from MINI of Concord when I took it in for an AC issue.

They had noticed the pulley and he was in the process of informing me that I had invalidated the warranty when a his Boss overheard him.

To my surprise, the Boss corrected him and told him that I had invalidated the warranty only on the part I had replaced and that any adjacent parts to the pulley would have to be investigated in the event of a failure.

(I hope he still works there!)

That sounds a little tricky. I still wavering on a pulley although I might do it myself so I can put it back if I need to bring to the dealer for any warranty work.

East Bay Mini in Pleasanton seems fine

Hmmmm.....

My buddy with a family of BMW's told me not to go to SF BMW/Mini. A couple other BMW owners have echoed similar comments. Have not heard from any Mini owners about the SF Mini service side of things.

Regarding Mountain View, I originally complained of some fade after a couple of hard stops. They looked at the car and told me that i needed new brakes and rotors at my cost! Car was 1500 miles old.

Brought it to East Bay Mini for a second opinion. They took me out in my car and 2 other MCS for a comparison. Been going to them for a year plus even though i live near the SF Airport.

They are fully aware of my 15% pulley too. If my pulley has a problem, then it is my problem. If other things break associated with the pulley/supercharger, the dealership would have to prove that my 15% pulley was the culprit. If not, my warranty would still apply.

They also have internet access which allows me to work when i have to visit.

So far, so good.

That's excellent information. Thank you. I live in S.F. and EB Mini is where I purchased Shorty from.
