Meth Tank???

Well today was great until the end... Got back in the MINI after a great dinner with the family, only to smell a strong alcohol scent. Just my luck😡 Checked the boot and located the issue. My Snow Performance 3/4 Gallon tank was leaking at the seams toward the bottom of the tank. Not sure what caused in, but being it's made made of plastic😔

Looking for advice on a good replacement or fix for this issue. I am not looking to spend a lot especially with X-mas right around the corner. If I need to replace, I'm thinking aluminum tank 1 plus gallons. Really hoping there is an easy way to re-seal the crappy SP tank...

Also, Worse part is no more Stage II + Map C for a while. Can barely run Map B due to the fact I don't know how to shut off the pump. Right now running the controller at max, so that the pump won't be triggered unless i hit above 15psi. Maybe someone has a tip in how to disengage the pump as well; without pulling the whole system.

Thanks...

Is there a gasket or seal somewhere on it. My Howerton kit was leaking over the summer because one of the seals cracked. It was a $5 fix but, it took like fix it.

From what I saw it was good near where the tap was installed. Seemed to be around a Seam running down the side of the tank. Kind of like two halves were molded together. Im gunna have to do a better leak test after work tomorrow. Still not happy with the quality of this tank...

There is always the possibility of making a custom aluminum tank that has the same contours as the rear hatch. I was starting to make one for my GP, but became side tracked.

I believe methanol attacks aluminium so you'll eventually be back to square 1.

Needing a new tank.

Thanks for the replies. Mario, that is a sweet tank, pricey but sweet none-the-less...

I think I will put a solid tank on my wish list. For now I'm looking for a spray on sealant that will leak proof my tank, as a stop gap measure.

Mario, you may know this product: it was a spray that was all over the Facebook, advertising the ability to waterproof an I Phone and more. Looked amazing but I can't remember the name. Also need to find out if it would be contraindicated to use due to this being a Methanol tank and all...

Try some urethane or some epoxy. One of those 2 should take care of it in the mean time.

Hey Roxspin,
I used a product similar to the one in the link below. It's pretty amazing stuff. The videos are crazy

The "amazing Goop" stuff is methanol proof and Snow performance actually recommends it. Really easy find locally.
