Drivetrain Headers
Headers
So I just bought Megan Racing headers for my MCS and yes it is the one that deletes the catalytic converter. I probably should have asked this before I bought them but will it make a tin can noise? Or will it make it more bassy? I have a Borla Race exhaust on the car and would love to enhance the already deep sound.
- Thanks!!

Putting a stainless header and catless exhaust on a 1.6L SOHC supercharged motor will never be 'bassy'. It will be loud, but never bassy. The change in header material, primary tube length, and absence of a cat will make the exhaust raspy compared to it's previous sound.
Yea I have had them installed for a little over 2 weeks now, I'm happy with them, they unleash the cars inner beast WOT
But I have a small fitment issue, where the deleted cat and cat-back meet, did any of you have a hard time connecting them? There is a small gap and the gasket rattles just a little... any suggestions?

Can you all more details on how you got the header to mate up with the rest of the exhaust? I already had the Borla S-Type with resonator installed and I am trying to add the Megan Racing Header with the test pipe. Problem is it looks like the down pipe is about 2 inches too short because to have any chance of the two mating, the resonator would have top be pushed about that far through the floor pan.
I guess if I deleted the resonator and added a straight pipe I could get it too work but I really don't want to do that. I have even chopped up the original manifold and a Magna Flow header trying to piece and part something together but I do not like how it is turning out.
I sent a video to Megan Racing on Friday showing them the problem but I bet they will come back with an "it would fit a factory cat-back just fine" type of response.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Borla Race exhaust so I don't know if the resonator is different, but what I did was use a jack to push the resonator up to just fit on the header ( it is a very tight fit and has no flexibility at all ) Then I allowed the car to run, and rev it a lot to get the header and resonator very hot and carefully adjusted and tightened the whole piece together, I have not had any problems yet.
It is kind of disappointing however, you would think a Megan Racing piece would be more reliable. I hope this helps

I talked to Megan and they simply said to send back the header for a refund. They didnt seem interested at all in trying to figure out what was wrong woth the build and come up with a fix. If it werent that right now it is hard to find a header for my Mini that isnt going to cost me $800 - $1600 I would have sent it back but instead I ended up taking the cat off of the broken MagnoFlow exhaust and then I welded a cuople of very odd angled flanges on it and got it too fit. It aont the prettyest thing but it got me going for $200 rather than $800.
Yea... that was actually my first choice but I could not find them in stock anywhere. Best I could find was that they would be available sometime in March. Actually found the same with the Megan header but ended up finding a new one on eBay.
