"quick" electronic exhaust dump valve

always wanted to do an electric exhaust dump; only problem is i dont care for the lag for opening the dump valve.

what i want to do is use a micro switch to open the exhaust under WOT only.

dont care so much about how long it takes to close, but opening is most important.

i did find this one guys design; Dougs electric exhaust cutout

(see video, just fast forward to the 4 min mark) and you can see how fast the port opens. looks like this guy uses a sliding "wall" vs a geared "port" that opens like a butterfly valve. the butterfly valve style ones seem to take almost 5 seconds to open / close (i feel like by that time, im almost done with the rpm range)

so anyway, anyone know of any other "fast" electric exhaust cutouts?

maybe one of these "vacuum" actuated valves will be faster?

this is a good video of the action...

my buddy with a golf R has the same system stock in the car, its boost activated. but he clamped it, so its always open.

boost activation would be nice, so would the switch, both seem like good ideas... dont like the drone on the highway?

i thought about the boost idea; that 2nd video is a boost activated unit actually; opens at 11psi, but thats a turbo car.

i feel like a boost one will be on / off so often, since the SC builds boost so fast, and its somewhat touchy really imo. so id rather the switch with WOT, and a manual bypass switch, that way you could force it open whenever you want.

just been thinking of where you could even put that thing under the mini, i know its already pretty tight, plus the exhaust moves so much with the engine rocking...

i think it was an adjustable pressure, or im sure you could replace the spring to open at 15psi even at 11, im working my way to 15. right where the header connects to the mid pipe would prolly be the best place since the tunnel is just starting. i like the switch idea, so i can roll in town popping all over the place even at low speed
