Drivetrain Help on Pulley Installation

Help on Pulley Installation
My mechanic is trying to install the super charger WMW 15% reduction pulley. After installing the pulley he said the belt didn’t align properly and that it was kind of hanging @ an angle with the rest of the pulleys.. I said screw it because it’s my only car and after driving it for a day it unaligned and shredded part of the belt thinning it a little . he took it back and said that it needs to be 2-3mm closer to the supercharger housing like he said before. it shredded on the inside he said so I guess the side closest to the engine. what am i getting wrong. please help. need my car back 
how far is it supposed to be from the supercharger. i heard 1mm or is it supposed to be flush against it? i really apreciate it. for back story on my car. no accidents. about a year ago the harmonic balancer wash changed to an ati pulley. new clutch installed about 3 months ago. not sure if that helps THANK YOU
