Ebay Speed Daddy stuff?

Hi all; found some reviews on the Headers but not the CAI and Catback...

here are links, pricing seems amazing. Might be worth it just to try because they are so cheap.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-DUAL-TIP-MUFFLER-RACING-CATBACK-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-02-06-MINI-COOPER-S-HATCH-R50/400575976693?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D42244ca0354d4d848ec20502f9c3c355%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20131003132420%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D371126900497&rt=nc

Are these too goo to be true? Should I run? Has anyone tried these and liked them?

Thanks all (flame suit on)

that intake looks more geared towards the R56

where you might be able to get it to fit in a r53 it wouldnt be as much as a CAI as you think, since there is no replacement box to enclose it, it wont draw cold air. itll become a HAI which has its own benefits.

Depending on the year, there are two different mounting methods (the hangers changed to get ready for cabrio production) for the exaust....they to not list which date range....so you have a 50% chance the exaust will need welding work to change the hangers to fit....not 100% sure the change affected the r50 like the r53....but it is a risk....might be worth doing a bit more research.

thanks for the info guys, both make sense. I was looking at some other CAI and one has a nice aluminium box to keep the air cold(ish). I may look further into that.

on a side note, does a tune not affect the boost of the s/c Mini's, is it just the pulleys?

just a pulley affects boost, theres nothing in our system that can turn up boost, since the supercharger is belt driven, it has a direct relationship to the RPMs of the motor. also a tune is no nessesary until you are modded for late game

also do your research of intakes, a CAI technically doesnt make you more power, for our cars it makes alot more noise, which is fantastic

Just the pulley...remember it is driven by the motor in a fixed relationship due to the pulley....unlike a turbo.
And it sounds like you need to be 100% sure if you are looking at r50 cooper parts or r53 s parts...suspensions and body is the same, along with interior...motor is related, but different...same for exaust....not interchangeable.

Thanks guys...I've never been a fan of s/c I'm a Turbo guy so not used to the whole best way to get power out of a s/c thing. But it makes 100% sense to do a smaller pulley. The 19% the smallest pulley (largest increase in power, or is there something even more aggressive)?

stick with a 17% its been noted that over 19% will cavitate the waterpump, if you move to an electric water pump, have fun =)

some people get away with 19%, could be the type of coolant they are running. but 17% will give you some nice boost. after the CAI youll be a S/C person =)

Yup....remember, if you want a 19%, you should really get a tune....the maps the car is using are the STOCK maps until you get a tune....17% is OK...19% tends to be problematic with no tune...

I'm having a bit of a hard time finding the 19% ones. I am hoping to do a 17 or 19% pulley; new injectors (tune for e85? anyone do this?); and an intercooler upgrade (still researching). Maybe a camshaft upgrade as well? But this will be all done at a shop (less the intercooler) so it depends on costs to have a cam replaced.

The parts for these cars are all Very reasonable so I'm getting excited.

Had a set of speed daddy headers in my e36, seemed decent. Only had them for a short time before I sold the car.
