miniboost,

Call me right now! Here is my cell/tech line 720-841-1002, my shop line 303-683-4424, and my home number 720-344-0210.

I have a ton of outstanding inflows, but I try very hard not to owe anyone anything! Let's try to get this taken care of as soon as possible.

There were some support issues with Powerchip and Webb Motorsports regarding the ECU tuning. We are currently working together very well to get those issues resolved. Wayne and Travis are from Australia, and there is a bit of difference I'm sure in the way business is done. I don't think they meant to offend anyone.

As for my customer support, I know it remains the last part of a successful formula. It was my intent when I started to provide nothing but the most excellent response and delivery time. What I found was that that grows a company really fast!

I have hired a new employee, have the new shop, am implementing an online order function, and have gotten rid of the next to useless answering service. I am in town much more frequently, and by the end of this month, will have Jon fully trained and can provide someone to answer your questions at all times. We are also still implementing the customer support number through dminiero and Mike, which will also be available at all times during business hours.

It hasn't been that I don't want the business to grow - I haven't seen my kids in a week! I have been at the West meets East 2004 event for the last week, and before that was in serious development of some new products, and the week before was moving the operation into the new shop. Unfortunately, it all takes time, but we will be the best customer service provider in the business when it is all sorted. I want nothing more than to have completely happy customers!!!!! This is how I support my family, and I love what I do.

I hope that helps!

If you need a reflash, please contact me at any of the above numbers.

Randy

This whole thing sounds like a real pain. I met Randy a while back at a pulley party in San Diego and he was a great guy, just hard to get ahold of.

I have to say that it looks like he is trying to go the extra mile here. The guy put his cell and home #'s right here on the web. Wow!

Needs to be said

Other than the "service" related issues already stated here ...

I did want to say that I really do like the Powerchip software.
It's effects are obvious and really add a refined "smoothness" as well as welcome power. My mini delivered a somewhat "beligerent" throttle response, an unrefined power delivery that this software completely tamed.
I have no regrets in my purchase, just concern for my "vaporware" should a reflash become necessary.

SteelKite,
I know exactly what you mean. I had to draw a picture a while back to explain it to someone:

Just talked to Randy to get myself on the re-flash list. It looks like everything will be fine for me.

No one has mentioend this yet I don't think, so I'll bring it up. All this wouldn't be a problem at all, if MINI had come out with trouble-free base software in the first place. We all had to get reflashes at the dealership because our cars simply didn't work correctly. I can't imagine another car going through this many different software versions in a similar amount of time.

I also have to say that I really miss the Powerchip software. As soon as I got my car back from the dealer, I noticed a significant drop in power. My exhaust pipe also turned back rather quickly. Randy and Powerchip really have a great product.

Sorry I took so long to reply to this question. I just haven't been on NAM for more than a week. Yes, I got my PowerChip installed by Randy during a "pulley party" in Atlanta almost exactly a year ago. The product is okay (not great, but "okay") and Randy is very personable and informed. But CUSTOMER SERVICE seems to be a real issue with everyone associated with the PowerChips products. I'd steer clear of them no matter what at this point.

I totally agree with this viewpoint. I think the reflashing procedure was probably designed to handle exception cases, where someone's ECU was replaced due to collision damage or other catastrophe, or *maybe* if a special version of factory code was loaded. I don't think Powerchips could have ever in their wildest imagination thought that MINI would be going through ECU revisions at the rate they have.

I too have been very satisifed with my Powerchips code based upon the butt-dyno readouts.

I gave up on Brand P. Between Mr. Big-Stuff threatening to sue me after retracting his offer and positively mediocre and inconsistent real dyno results, Brand P is now at the bottom of my list of MINI ECU's.

If this is bashing, it's only because I'm giving credit where credit is due; don't buy from Brand P!

I'm now running an alternate solution ECU product, and am fully satisfied

[QUOTE][I'm now running an alternate solution ECU product, and am fully satisfied /QUOTE]
Which would be?
Been putting off the ECU remap because it just doesn't seem very well sorted out yet. Which is it you're using you feel satisfied with?
Thanks.
