Anyone else had problems from the PowerChips ECU reflashing from Webb Motorsports? I emailed Randy, but never got a response. The "rev limiter" that was supposedly removed, was not. At wide open throttle, when I hit about 6500 RPM, the engine sputters and craps out. In other words, the supposed rev limiter removal doesn't exist. I'm also continuing to run richer than promised on fuel. The black soot problem is very evident inside the Magnaflow exhaust tips.

I'm really wishing I hadn't wasted $690 on the PowerChips ECU upgrade, 'cause I think I didn't get what I paid for.

Did you get the Webb Motorsports version? Did you try calling Powerchip? Sorry for your loss at this time. Does anyone have another method for calling Randy? This is one of the risks of buying from a smaller vendor. Sometimes contact and resolution may take a while longer. Although there are a lot of benefits also.

Have you tried PMing him on the webbmotorsports page. He usually has a good response time there.

BeerBrewer,

You need to call him on the "Tech Line" number on his website. That is his cell number. He can't always answer due to where he is or how busy he is, but, it's usually easier than PM'ing or any other way.

If I had a problem or a tech question, that is how I would try to contact him. Let us know what you find out. I haven't even tried to see if the limiter was removed since my install. I guess I'll check it out soon. Good Luck!

I had a problem contacting Randy last time too. It took almost a week before getting a response, but once he did, he's extremely helpful! I hope you can resolve the problem.

The rumor from a previous thread was that Powerchips is mad at Randy for developing the Unichip ECU and will not support Webb versions. I don't know if this is the truth or just a rumor. It is the main reason I chose the Unichip ECU as the dealer cannot flash over the programing.

Unfortuantely for me... and a lot of others... the Unichip didn't exist when Randy did the PowerChips install last July in Atlanta. I'd happily dump the PowerChips crap and replace with Unichip if it were offered by Randy as a "warranty replacement". Maybe he'll make good... but I won't hold my breath. I still haven't heard from him, and it's been about two weeks!

Or if there was an 'upgrade' price...
