Evap Canister Delete?

I recently decided to upgrade the suspension in my '05 MCS. Part of the upgrade was a 4 piece brace kit (the bottom product on this page).

In order to install the right rear brace, the evap/charcoal canister that is normally just in front of the wheel well has to be removed (the parts otherwise interfere).

Of course, once that canister is out, the computer now lights the SES with code P2404. The shop tried simply blocking the vac line to the canister, but that had no effect (reading this thread I can see now that there's more to the system than that).

I'd prefer not to drive the car with an essentially useless SES light; if something else were to go wrong, I've got no way of knowing.

Does anyone here know how to delete the evap pump/canister system such that the computer will not trigger a fault?

Looks like an incompatible product....I'd try to get my $$ back and get the tsw brace...no issues...no lights...and still be legal.

Blocking a line won't cut it. The ecu monitor the pressure in the tank and do a leak test once in a while using the air pump (every X running cycles). I don't know if it's do-able, but you'd need to disable it in the ecu in order to prevent it to light up in the dash, but it would still register in ecu due to the missing components. I don't think it's worth it, either modify the brace or find a proper one.

You also will fail emission testing if they do that where you live.

These are "proper" for the car in as much as they are dimensionally correct if the canister isn't there. From what I've found on the internet, the canister is only in that location on 2005 and 2006 R53s, so perhaps the mfg. was basing the design on a previous year. Pure speculation on my part, of course.

I'm leaning towards modifying the brace; it seems like it would be the better method. I'm just going to pull the brace and put the canister back until I can have the brace extended.

Luckily they do not (Florida, USA), so I have plenty of time to mess around with it!
