There is a v.38 nearing release. I think the beta testing for it is being refered to as v.37.5

it addresses a number of issues, mainly yo-yo. apparently it brings the cruise control up to the current state of tech (instead of the +/- 5mph, you get a real +/- 1mph).

HOWEVER...one of the serious drawbacks is that the tachometer is slightly behind the actual revs, a big problem when you use the tach for racing. sure, the rev limiter will cover your a$$, but if you can't count on the tach to tell you when to shift, you're certain to take longer on the track.

check here for "the yo-yo chronicles"

I hope this doesn't confuse the issue but about 6 weeks ago I had the JCW software installed on my non JCW S and it was refered to as version 37.5. Biggest change we have felt on the two cars it was installed on was a bit more low end . Best way to describe it might be that on the fwy in 6th when you go to accelerate it feels more like you are in 5th.

I would be careful about getting a service dept in trouble here...We all know it is done to many cars, but MINI WILL FLIP OUT if they catch wind of it. They consider it theft. Maybe you should edit post....??...

Are you getting the "ba-da-dump, ba-da-dump, ba-da-dump" idle? Does it sound like it is missing on a cylinder? Mine does this, and the service mgr. says he can't tell what it is. It is not throwing a code. Given I have some mods, he doesn't want to get the big boys in the loop...that is the price paid for many mods...and I accept that.

This is exactly why I no longer dream of owning any BMW's. When unmodified cars have the same problem, IT'S NOT CAUSED BY THE MODS !!!!!! They have ruined there own dealership with that BS, and lost at least one, (Me) future customer.

I've often wondered how many future customers do they have too loose before they behave with the written laws of this country. Or how much money they think they are saving, opposed to loosing in future buisness ?

Anyways, the bad idle is likely much more widespread than you or I and should hopefully be addressed someday before our cars suffer any real damage from it. Of course if they do, BMW will probably try to blame us anyways.

I am unsure how MINI is going to get word of how widespread this problem is if there dealers are afraid to get them involved.

I realize I am thread highjacking, so I am shutting up now.
