RaceChip Tuning

Hello Everyone,

I did some research on the above mentioned chip on this forum and there has been a great debate about it during 2013.

I would like to know if theres any further progress on the RaceChip with forum users using it or know about anyone thats been using it. Answers im looking for is: Reliability, making power it claims

The thread which has the debate in has been since closed therefore no updates can be seen.

They claiming the JCW to get 188 kw on the tune

Not worth the money. People that posted dyno sheets showed little or no gains. I saw a 5hp increase on 1 dyno sheet with RaceChip Ultimate. Your best bet is to get Burger Tunings JB+. They claim 20whp and 40wtq. I believe it because I had it. Giant difference. Do that or get a real tune from Manic Motorsport

Isnt JB + for N18 engine models only?

I have N14

Is ECU tuning better than a plug and play system like RaceChip?

Yes a real tune is always better. All these chip things do is fool the MAF sensor to tell the car it's not making enough power and needs to run more boost. A real tune will modify different parameters if the ECU for a more reliable and powerful power delivery. Your options are Cobb Accessport, Manic Motorsport, and Battle Tuning. At least the popular ones.

Look into the Ultimate Chip.
I dynoed 204 whp and 223 torque on 09 JCW. It really works
In fact I was more happy with that than my current "tune"
DO not want to mention names yet but I find him very uncommunicative and unresponsive to my inquires. A real disappointment verified by anemic dyno runs.

My Cooper S dyno'd at 215whp and 241wtq on the stock turbo on map 2.
Currently on Map 3 now with meth, estimated ~225whp ~260wtq no dyne yet.
I saw Manic tune a Cooper S with a JCW turbo and got 258whp and 258wtq.
My tune costed me $300 few months back. It was an introductory price, could have gone up since then. I believe $500 Stage I and $550 Stage 2.

I'm also curious about the racechip. Mainly because it is possibly something I could install and uninstall. Did anyone dyno their JCW or S before and after?

If you have an R56, I would stay away from race chip. A few people have installed them and the dyno needle didn't move

This thread isn't a positive endorsement for sure. I'm rather happy with my changes to my JCW. I might be tempted to think about a Forge BOV in the future.
